I'm convinced the DSA is filled with two types of people, based on the videos I've seen of their gatherings.
There are the smart ones. The ones who know full well what they're doing and where they're trying to take things. They are a small percentage of the people who make up the Democratic Socialists of America. Their ultimate goal isn't Democratic Socialism, which is like putting spraypaint and glitter on a pile of cow crap. Their ultimate goal is communism.
No ifs, ands, or buts.
As my friend and colleague Ward Clark noted in his VIP article, he's been calling them communists all along:
In recent months, we have all watched with some consternation as the Democratic Party, once the home of Dad's favorite president, Harry Truman, seems to be falling into the hands of self-proclaimed "democratic socialists." Now, that very term is a misnomer; "democrat" and "socialist" are terms that are fundamentally opposed to one another. There can be no democracy in socialism, which is an inherently totalitarian system.
So, I've been calling them what they are: Communists. And now, it seems, the members of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are increasingly calling themselves that, as well.
He goes on to say something that I've recently touched on myself:
There's a fundamental problem here: Too many people don’t seem to know what socialism is. They look at things like Social Security and think, “Oh, that’s funded by tax money, so it’s socialism.” No, it’s not. For one thing, Social Security is something that Americans pay into for years, expecting eventually to get something back out of it. What they get sucks; they would do much, much better putting the same amount in a 401(k) and investing it in a few decent mutual funds. Even treasury bonds would be a better bet.

And this brings me to the other group of people who exist within the DSA, the useful idiots.
Ward is correct. Most of the people who are in any given DSA space have no clue what it is they're trying to push on the rest of America. They haven't stopped to think about its history of abject failure, the corruption, starvation, disease, and mass murder that eventually envelops any nation that leans into that territory far enough.
As I wrote in my last VIP, most of these people aren't actually interested in all of those outcomes because the outcome doesn't matter. What matters is how the person expressing their beliefs is perceived by their peers and mainstream culture. They don't actually care about humanity; they care about looking like they care about humanity because that's what makes you cool and gets you the backpats, snaps, and jazz fingers.

Their goal isn't communism. It's to be liked. If they were to get communism, they wouldn't like it. They would, however, like getting approved by the dystopian government that would rule over them, so they'd keep trumpeting the same things they need to, only now it's not to be liked, it's to be allowed to live.
I was watching a video on X where a person pretending to be a part of a local Pride Parade began asking questions about Palestine and Gaza. I can't find it now, sadly, but I'm not sure I need to. You've seen a million videos like it by now.
The responses to the questions were all "vibe-coded." Middle-East terrorist organizations hate homosexuals. They toss them off buildings, behead them, and hate them openly. Yet, these people interviewed at the Pride Parade had nothing but good things to say about them. They wanted to celebrate Pride with these organizations.
The thing is, if they did know how these organizations treated homosexuals... would it matter to them?
The outcome isn't the important part. It's being seen as having the right opinions. It's feeling good because you expressed a virtue that is popularly agreed upon by mainstream culture, even if in your heart of hearts, you don't actually believe it.
If we do have communism in the states, or an Islamic takeover, the blame will only partly be on the communists and Islamists. Mostly, it'll be on the useful idiots who are more concerned with being liked than being real.
