It's Here: Alaska ICE Protest Draws Literally Dozens of Activists

In Alaska, we seem to have a little of everything. We have great hunting and fishing, awe-inspiring scenery, and a landscape that's vast beyond our ability to easily comprehend. We have vast mineral resources, vast energy resources, great, warm, friendly people, and much more.

And, as seems to be the way of things in these times, we have a few disaffected commies who decided to emulate their ideological brethren and organize a protest of the Anchorage Correctional Complex, where 40 illegal aliens are housed awaiting repatriation.

It didn't seem like their hearts were really in it.

A hasty protest organized by the Anchorage branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation erupted Monday afternoon outside the Anchorage Correctional Complex, where 40 illegal immigrants are currently being detained ahead of deportation proceedings.

Roughly 60 protesters assembled in front of the facility, carrying signs with slogans such as “No Kings,” a rainbow umbrella with the numbers “86 47,” which is code calling for the assassination of President Trump, and waving a Mexican flag as they marched toward the secure loading entrance at the jail. They chanted, “No KKK, No fascist USA”

Watch; they don't seem too enthusiastic.

A few of them stepped onto the road, but it stopped there. One law enforcement officer in full tactical gear stood in front of them, weapon slung, not appearing too nervous. The old "One riot, one Ranger" thing seemed to apply.

There were more officers evidently outside of the view of the video:

The demonstration was called with little notice, but quickly drew a law enforcement response, including officers from the Anchorage Police Department, correctional staff, and other uniformed personnel. Protesters were met with a firm show of force, as officers blocked access to jail property and prevented any breach of the secure area.

The detainees in question were flown into Alaska on Sunday and are being temporarily held at the state-run facility while federal immigration authorities process their deportation orders. Many of the demonstrators voiced opposition to what they described as inhumane deportation practices and accused authorities of other offenses.

Although no arrests were reported and the protest remained largely nonviolent, tensions were visible as officers formed a barrier between the protestors and the jail infrastructure. Chants and speeches lasted for an hour before the group dispersed.

It's not known, but it seems likely, that the "other uniformed personnel" were Alaska State Police, who have a reputation for not booking any nonsense. These are people of whom a lot is asked; there are times when four to six officers will have to cover an area the size of Maryland. That's not a job for the faint of heart. As for the tensions, they can be "visible" until the cows come home, as long as no rocks are thrown.

And, of course, one dimwit was, predictably, waving a Mexican flag, thousands of miles from the Mexican border.

Alaska's voting states lump the commies of the "Party for Socialism and Liberation" in with "other parties" in voter registration roles, but the party is presumed to have literally dozens of members, and the paltry turnout in Anchorage - a city of 282,000 - would appear to reflect that. The Alaska commies may reassemble for another go on Saturday, but it's unlikely it will be any more impressive than this one.

Most of the people of the Great Land's largest city seem to have marked this occasion in Alaskan fashion - by ignoring it.
