Ladies and gentlemen, we are watching history be made in North America as we sit here on Saturday, January 29th, 2022. No, I’m not talking about the possibly pre-mature announcement that the G.O.A.T. ( Greatest Of All Time) of all Quarterbacks MIGHT be retiring UPDATE: It’s Semi-Official: Tom Brady Has Not Announced He’s Retired Yet.

No, I’m talking about the massive #TruckersForFreedomRally2022 happening right now in our neighbor to the north, Canada.

I have been following along with my Red State colleagues the absolutely amazing story of the rally for repealing COVID mandates in Canada for the past week. On Saturday, an estimated 10,000 people converged on the nation’s capital in Ottawa to let their government minders know that, maybe, it was time to ease up on mandating anything that breathes.

Unfortunately, instead of listening to the concerns of those who keep the supply chain moving in Canada, the government is trying to paint them as some kind of domestic terrorists. Where have we seen that before? Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even took the absurd step of evacuating to a “safe place,” with the protest in town.

As far as I can tell, there is no reason to believe the truckers and the rest of the people in the convoy have any intentions of doing anything but peacefully protesting. Feigning a domestic threat is the go-to move of tyrannical governments the world over right now, so it’s not surprising that Trudeau would respond this way.

Now, I’m not quite sure that the PM needed to leave for a safe location, when the very people that were coming to town he just called a “small and fringe” group that does not represent everyday Canadians. Justin Trudeau Calls 45-Mile-Long Truckers Convoy Small and Fringe, and He Is Dead Wrong.

Here is what he said…

The small fringe minority of people who are on their way to Ottawa and who are holding unacceptable views that they are expressing, do not represent the views of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science and stepping up to protect each other is the best way to continue to ensure our freedom our rights and our values as a country.

Well, that is fine how-do-you-do, Justin. You go ahead and call your citizens an insignificant fringe group, and then, possibly, skip town. Maybe he left for Florida, in the same manner his ideological bunkmates AOC and Eric Swallwell did a couple of weeks back. Unfortunately, it is a bit nipply there right now.

As I mentioned above, I have been following this story and have been absolutely thrilled that our neighbors to the north have taken the mandate bull by the horn and decided to slay this beast. I have a feeling this story is far from over, and I cannot wait to see how this continues to unfold.

One of the people I have been watching is my friend and Canadian journalist, Andrew Lawton, who has been in Ottawa on Saturday and has given those of us not there a birds-eye view of what is ACTUALLY happening. After I read Bonchie’s story about the PM possibly fleeing town, I happened to catch one of Andrew’s tweets that gave a very unique perspective. This is what Andrew excels at.

I started to chuckle — because I realized that people that are this tidy and clean are not really a threat.

Except for people that are possibly peddling trash narratives about freedom-loving folks.
