Mark Cuban Seems Confused in His Latest Woke Announcement on National Anthem.

Some people are just super tone-deaf and have no sense of timing. Obviously, Mark Cuban, the eccentric owner of the N.B.A. Dallas Mavericks is one of these people being he is going all #Woke during an impeachment trial of Donald Trump.

Don’t these people know we can only handle one Shapesepran event at a time in this country?

In case you have not noticed, the National Basketball Association has started up its new season and the sport that was played last year in a bubble in Orlando, is back in their own venues for the 21-22 season. I’m sure that yawn I hear is from the throngs of you taking a break from the impeachment trial on C-SPAN and not from basketball being back.

What that means is we will have more kneeling, lectures from millionaires playing for billionaires, and of course, now the national anthem NOT being played in the home of Cuban’s Dallas Mavericks. However, the league has already come out and decided that Mark is out of bounds on this and issued a decree that ALL teams will play the anthem until further notice.

Ouch.

From the USA Today

“We respect and always have respected the passion people have for the anthem and our country,” Cuban said. “But we also loudly hear the voices of those who feel that the anthem does not represent them. We feel that their voices need to be respected and heard, because they have not been. Going forward, our hope is that people will take the same passion they have for this issue and apply the same amount of energy to listen to those who feel differently from them. Only then we can move forward and have courageous conversations that move this country forward and find what unites us.”

Cuban appeared on ESPN’s ‘The Jump.’

Cuban told host Rachel Nichols: “We have no problem playing the national anthem at all. I stand for the national anthem, my hand is always over my heart, we’ve supported the National Flag Foundation and done work with them. That isn’t the issue at all. The real issue is, how do you express the voices of those who feel the anthem doesn’t represent them, or causes them consternation?”

As I mentioned above the NBA chief communications officer Mike Bass pretty much squashed the idea of Cuban going all #RogueWoke on this issue and let it be known that no team will be allowed to banish this for at least this season.

Now I have zero issues with Mark Cuban or any owner making a stand like this. I also think players should be allowed to kneel if they so choose during the anthem. They should also be critiqued for allowing their feelings to get in the way of just common sense and disavowing tradition and history for some vapid talking points made to make shallow people feel better.

Cuban says above that…

But we also loudly hear the voices of those who feel that the anthem does not represent them. We feel that their voices need to be respected and heard, because they have not been.

Just because someone has an opinion does not mean it is equal with other opinions and worthy of being heeded because of the feels. If someone doesn’t ‘feel” the anthem doesn’t represent them then their feelings are theirs and you have to find a way to deal with that. Why throw out the tradition of millions of Americans for a moment before a sporting event honoring the anthem that represents a country that allows different opinions to be heard?

Also if the national anthem of the United States of America causes anyone consternation like Cuban alledges then they have bigger problems than the national anthem. I would suggest having an ice cream or just not going to a sporting event.

Yet if Cuban is so concerned about all this as he claims, I have a suggestion that he can work on that the #Woke crowd are super concerned about also, and that is wealth inequality. According to Business Insider Cuban is worth a cool 4.1 Billion dollars and he needs to whittle that down significantly. Lots of people who dislike the country and the anthem also hate the fact that people like Cuban have so much dough and the feels crowd don’t have as much as they think they should or are owed. That also causes much consternation and I hope Mark will find the time to work on those people with those feelings also.

I get the feeling though when it comes to his pocketbook, Mark Cuban might not be as progressive and care about hurt feelings as much as he does with the anthem being played.

Maybe I’m wrong, but we all know I’m not.
