We all know how tough it is has been with the COVID-19 social distancing rules in place over the past couple of months. Staying safe means keeping our distance even during joyous events like Birthday celebrations.
One example of people overcoming this hurdle is the example of a student from Richards Jr High in my hometown of Fraser, Michigan.
Tristin is a 14-year-old youngster who has been part of the Make A Wish Michigan program. His wish was to go to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World in Orlando, Florida and was scheduled to be there today for his birthday. Of course, with everything COVID related going on that had to be canceled.
My friend Melissa who has been part of Tristin’s wish team since 2018 was not going to let this special day go by without any recognition. She connected with another friend of mine Mary that was able to pull together some of the local agencies to make sure that even though Tristin was not fighting the Sith in Orlando, he will not soon forget the kindness of his community around him.
Below is the video I was able to shoot for a local Facebook site here called Macomb County Scanner to capture this cool event for everyone who could not attend to see.
A special THANK YOU to everyone who took some time out of their day to make a young man who has had some health struggles day a bit brighter.
Also thank you to…
*Last but not least to Melissa and Mary for just giving enough of a damn to help pull together people to make young mans day a Lil brighter during a confusing time for all of us.
