Ruth Bader Ginsburg For The Win, Blasts Kavanaugh Hearings

The lady is correct about the Kavanaugh hearings. They were a “highly partisan show” that was embarrassing to watch.

In an appearance yesterday at George Washington University Law School, she commented on the recent Brett Kavanaugh hearings and how they went.

According to National Review

Contrasting Kavanaugh’s hearings last week with her own, which occurred in 1993, Ginsburg called the partisan grandstanding of Democrats “wrong” and expressed a desire to return a spirit of collegiality to the process.

“The way it was was right. The way it is is wrong,” Ginsburg said to applause. “The atmosphere in ’93 was truly bipartisan. The vote on my confirmation was 96 to three, even though I had spent about ten years of my life litigating cases under the auspices of the ACLU and I was on the ACLU board. . . . That’s the way it should be, instead of what it’s become, which is a highly partisan show. The Republicans move in lockstep, so do the Democrats. I wish I could wave a magic wand and have it go back to the way it was.”

Justice Ginsburg is spot on here. These hearings have turned into a dog and pony show that are a far cry from the vote that confirmed her over 20 years ago.

Hopefully, Congress shelves these hearings if they are counterproductive.

Kudos to Justice Ginsburg for saying this publicly and chastising all involved for the disgraceful show that is put on whenever an opening on the Supreme Court happens.
