Sometimes God does interrupt your life.

In an interesting piece from The Washington Examiner today, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson explains that he didn’t want his current job, but it came looking for him.

“I didn’t want this job. I didn’t seek this job,” the former CEO of Exxon Mobil told the only reporter he allowed to fly with him on his recent trip to Asia.

“My wife told me I’m supposed to do this.”

Tillerson went on to say that he didn’t know Donald Trump before the election, but after the election, Trump contacted him and wanted to talk about “the world.”

At the end of the conversation, Trump stunned Tillerson, by asking him to be his Secretary of State.

Apparently, that was not in Tillerson’s plans. He turns 65-years old this week and his goal was to retire this month and spend more time with his grandkids.

When he told his wife, Renda St. Clair, the news she responded, “God’s not through with you.”

“My wife convinced me,” Tillerson said. “She was right. I’m supposed to do this.”

It’s still early. Time will tell if Rex Tillerson really is suited for this position, or if he should be with his grandkids, right now.
