So John Kasich is still running. He has no mathematical chance of winning the nomination, but he’s running.

Knowing all this, now seems the time for an over-the-top, dynamic endorsement.

Enter former New York Governor George Pataki.

(Stop laughing.)

Pataki ended his own run for the presidency in December 2015, after failing to even break 1% in a crowded GOP field. It only makes sense that he steps in to be a surrogate for Kasich.

Several months out from the Cleveland GOP convention, Pataki will serve as the national co-chairman of Kasich’s campaign.

From POLITICO:

“John Kasich is the candidate Americans can trust to revive our economy, strengthen our national defense and represent our great nation with dignity. His record of balancing the federal budget and propelling Ohio’s economic turnaround speaks to his extraordinary ability to solve problems and bring people together. Today, John Kasich is only the Republican candidate who will defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall and at the end of the day is the most qualified to serve as President of the United States.”

It’s a glowing endorsement from one left-leaning moderate for another.

Who knows? This may be the magic spark the Kasich team has been waiting for.
