Planks for a New 'Contract With America'

Planning ahead for a Republican-controlled Congress after the 2022 landslide, here is an amalgamation of planks in a conservative (ostensibly Republican) platform from a variety of sources. Frankly, I’d like to see most of these in a new “Contract with America” in order to help screen candidates for next year’s congressional elections.

  1. Ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory, including the 1619 Project-related curriculum, throughout America.
  2. Override Biden’s Executive Orders through legislative action.
  3. End academic tenure. It was designed to promote free speech and ended up ensuring coerced uniformity of thought. Competition is good for everyone (except the incompetent).
  4. Start encouraging natural gas usage for transportation. It is a clean, abundant transportation fuel that would save us billions in decreased imported oil fees and would increase jobs. We should build ten nuclear reactors a year, too. The greenies should support that because it’s the only “clean” alternative for charging all of their electric vehicles.
  5. Make significant investments in national defense to pace the threat (Communist China) while getting rid of all the social engineering claptrap in DoD. America has never regretted being over-armed, but we are beginning to regret the ongoing cancel culture-initiated purge in the military services.
  6. End affirmative action. Given intermarriage and the diversity of races and ethnic groups, it is beginning to look like the racial codes of the Old South. An entire class of victims-rights operators has mastered the system and created a level of cynicism that erodes public confidence. North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s recent speech pertains; it is a MUST WATCH!
  7. Implement a national exit test for bachelor’s degrees. Ensure that the degrees count for something more than a piece of paper.
  8. Provide incentives for clean living. Those who are on federal assistance or Medicare, should receive bonuses for weight control, good blood pressure, and not smoking—either increased benefits or reduced copayments.
  9. Abolish the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
  10. Incentivize whistleblowers and implement strong personal protections in whistleblower laws.
  11. Reorganize and repurpose the FBI from top to bottom. Move FBI headquarters to the middle of the country.
  12. Finish the Wall, fine employers who hire illegal aliens, and beef up border security. Without an influx of illegal aliens, the pool is static, and the formidable forces of assimilation begin to work while sorting out amnesty and related issues.
  13. Freeze federal spending and insist on revenue-neutral, pay as you go, new legislation.
  14. Raise the Social Security retirement age. Average life expectancy in 1935 when the Act was passed was 61.7 years, which has increased to 78.6 years today per the CDC.
  15. Insist on exit tests for receiving high school diplomas.
  16. Close the Department of Education; return all education functions to the states.
  17. Repeal ObamaCare in its entirety (not piecemeal).
  18. Mandate the use of English in all government materials, ballots, online forms, driver’s ed tests, etc.
  19. Repeal Title IX. Ten years on, these reasons are still valid.
  20. Rewrite all federal laws, statutes, and regulations. New rules must be specific and written in plain English, must be 200 pages or less in length (preferably as short as possible to convey purpose and intentions), and must be published online in proposed form 60 days prior to congressional vote.
  21. Eliminate the congressional voting option to abstain, vote present, or skip voting on any and all proposed legislation in order to avoid accountability to the electorate. Implement a secure virtual voting system to accommodate members who cannot be in present in chamber.
  22. Ban all congressmen, senators, cabinet secretaries, and senior staffers from lobbying the federal government for 10 years after leaving federal service.
  23. Impose term limits on federally-elected officials.
  24. Eliminate all federal, state, and local government employee unions, as well as all teachers’ unions.
  25. Mandate the dismissals of state and federal employees when the budget is not balanced (no furloughs).
  26. No more disability payments to anyone unless a real doctor agrees and a review board approves, and no “stress leave.”
  27. Get rid of those silly outmoded wage and hour laws. Let people leave at 4:00 if they want to.
  28. Decentralize the federal government, moving at least 50% of agency headquarters out of Washington, DC (>500 miles); reduce the size of all federal agencies in the process.
  29. Restore incentives on domestic oil and gas production, including on government lands, with the goal to restore American energy self-sufficiency.
  30. Withdraw from the UN and wish the institution bon voyage as they relocate from New York City.
  31. Cap welfare benefits at eight years unless physically or mentally handicapped (doctor-certified and review board-approved); no additional funding for babies after two. End the anchor babies.
  32. Deport all illegal aliens; prosecute and deport all criminal aliens.
  33. Implement tort reform; tax awards from litigation at 99% on the lawyer and law firms.
  34. End the NLRB; tax any union dues used for politics at 99%.
  35. Reduce the scope of ADA, OSHA and EPA strangleholds on industry through careful review and repeal of existing regulations.
  36. Incentivize and rebuild our industrial base-steel, textile, appliance, etc.
  37. Repeal McCain-Feingold and get rid of all nonprofit organizations except for religious institutions.
  38. Eliminate bilingual education; promote English immersion.
  39. Require all political refugees to pass a US citizenship test that is strong on American history and civics within five years of arrival or face deportation.

This is just a starter list. What else can be added to it?

The end.
