The U.S. Military has carried out its first strike against a drug cartel boat in the Pacific Ocean. The attack, which took place on Monday, was announced in a bulletin posted by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on X.
Yesterday, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel being operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization and conducting narco-trafficking in the Eastern Pacific. The vessel was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking transit route, and carrying narcotics. There were two narco-terrorists aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters. Both terrorists were killed and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike. Narco-terrorists intending to bring poison to our shores, will find no safe harbor anywhere in our hemisphere. Just as Al Qaeda waged war on our homeland, these cartels are waging war on our border and our people. There will be no refuge or forgiveness—only justice.

Little is known about this eighth kinetic strike on drug traffickers since the administration changed enforcement strategies from law enforcement to military in early September. By all reports, this strike occurred in the Pacific east of a line drawn from Ecuador's northern border to Panama's northern border.
It isn't much of a shock that the Pacific narco traffickers are now getting the same attention as those in the Caribbean. Former communist guerrilla and erstwhile Colombian President Gustavo Petro has been running interference for the cartels (small wonder, as cocaine production has increased by over 50 percent since Petro took power in 2022). Over the weekend, tensions increased as Petro seemed to call for Trump's assassination or removal by coup d'etat after Trump shut off the aid pipeline to Colombia.

Petro was also leading the charge in claiming that a harmless Colombian fisherman was on a drug boat that was destroyed in the middle of September...but which took a month to come to the attention of anyone; see The Two Attacks to Watch for As Colombia's President and the US Left Team Up to Protect Drug Cartels – RedState.
I remain convinced that all of these attacks must be considered in the context of a coordinated campaign to force the cocaine production of Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia, which is 100 percent of the world's supply, to move overland to the U.S. or depart from current commercial ports. This will radically increase the rate of drug seizures. I wouldn't be shocked if we had suddenly started shooting down drug-running aircraft.
We also can't ignore that this campaign probably includes the destabilization of both the Petro and Maduro regimes and their replacement with a government that is not supplying drugs to the U.S. and playing footsie with China and Russia.
