No totalitarian state can survive without an identifiable domestic enemy that can be used to whip up popular anger. Stalin did it with the kulaks and ‘social parasites.’ Mao railed about the “Nine Black Categories” of landlords, rich farmers, anti-revolutionaries, bad influences, right-wingers, traitors, spies, capitalist-roaders, and intellectuals. Joe Biden is no different. Today there are dozens of Americans held for months without bail for the federal equivalent of a jaywalking ticket because they walked into the US Capitol, often waved in by the same Capitol Police officers who are sniveling on Capitol Hill today. For the past few months, Biden and his cronies have begun ratcheting up the anger against the millions of Americans who are deemed to be “vaccine hesitant” or called “anti-vaxxers.”

Over the weekend, CNN’s very own spud, Brian “Tater” Stelter, revved up all the pressure his fat little blood vessels could withstand attacking the “vacciune hesitant.”

Why would someone who has taken the vaccine care about someone not taking it? It seems that the idea is that if you haven’t taken the vaccine, then you are a really bad person because you might get sick and give the virus to someone else who is not vaccinated and, therefore, a really bad person. Or something. The main thrust of this is that you are revealing yourself to be a really selfish person by refusing to take an experimental vaccine.

Until today.

Earlier today, the CDC declared that it wanted vaccinated people to wear the mask while indoors, just like the schlubs who refused the vaccine. Why pray tell?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended Tuesday that fully vaccinated people wear masks indoors in areas with high transmission as COVID-19 cases continue to rise and vaccination rates wane.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said new data shows the delta variant, which accounts for more than 80% of the new infections in the U.S., behaves “uniquely differently” from its predecessors and could make vaccinated people infectious.

“Information on the delta variant from several states and other countries indicates that in rare occasions some vaccinated people infected with the delta variant after vaccination may be contagious and spread the virus to others,” Walensky said in announcing the new guidance. “This new science is worrisome and unfortunately warrants an update to our recommendation.”

It is difficult to believe that CDC took this step if, as they claim, vaccinated people being highly contagious was a “rare” event. Typically, we don’t make arbitrary policies affecting millions of people based on rare happenings. What CDC has done is the equivalent of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandating cars be designed to protect the occupants from falling trees. Either the meaning of “rare” has been stretched beyond belief, or there was a political reason for CDC to make this call. (I have my suspicions.)

Be that as it may, this is an exercise in self-defeating behavior from a governing claque that claims it wants to convince more people to get vaccinated…seemingly at gunpoint if necessary.

By the way, I take Cuomo very seriously. Under his regime, police have been sent to private residences to break up gatherings that some local Karen thought were too large. Jewish funerals have been disrupted, and he’s killed upwards of 12,000 New Yorkers by his policy decisions.

Were one to wish to turn the administration’s invective back on them, the CDC announcement says is that the most selfish behavior you can engage in is being vaccinated because you could become a highly contagious but totally asymptomatic person who only protected themselves while endangering others. It also hammers home the message that there is no advantage to getting the vaccine if you haven’t already decided to do so. It doesn’t matter if you have a vaccine or not; you are still stuck wearing the face mask. “You may be contagious and have to wear a face mask but you were an obedient citizen and got the vaccine.” Not an easy sell, that.

I have no doubt the vaccines work to one degree or another. What I do have doubts about is whether the bunch calling the shots on this policy really care if people get vaccinated or if they are deliberately trying to hold down the vaccination rate for some perceived political gain because absolutely nothing they are doing indicates that they are truly trying to convince the unvaccinated to line up for the shot.
