Governor Paul LePage Says Donald Trump Not A Natural Born Citizen

It seems that Donald Trump is not satisfied with merely co-opting people, they must prove their loyalty by donning a thong and clown nose and run down Main Street while playing the kazoo.

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) questioned Thursday the eligibility of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to be president, citing it as a key reason he decided to throw his support behind Donald Trump.

LePage told radio host Howie Carr that his two daughters were born in Canada, and they had to be naturalized as U.S. citizens even though he was born in America.

“So I have a question there,” LePage said.

Cruz was also born in Canada, but he maintains that he fits the constitutional requirement that a president be a “natural born citizen” because his mother was born in America.

LePage said he didn’t think Cruz could be president because he believed his daughters were also ineligible.

“They can’t. I know they can’t. I’ve already looked into it,” he said.

I am breathless that an actual governor, not from Louisiana, would say this. Though, he also seems to disqualify Donald Trump from the presidency:

“The legal issue is quite straightforward, but I would note that the birther theories that Donald has been relying on, some of the more extreme ones insist that you must not only be born on U.S. soil, but have two parents born on U.S. soil,” Cruz continued.

“Under that theory, not only would I be disqualified, Marco Rubio would be disqualified, Bobby Jindal would be disqualified, and interestingly enough, Donald J. Trump would be disqualified because Donald’s mother was born in Scotland,” Cruz said, referring to two other GOP presidential contenders.
