10 States Boycott the Great American State Fair, but PA Senators and Companies Step Up to Fill the Gap

The better news: despite the disregard of its citizens by certain elected officials in 10 states, 40 states, and six territories embraced the moment, honored their people, and acknowledged the important role they play in this American experiment.

This Is the World You Helped Create, Chuck: Schumer Mercilessly Booed at NYC Pride Parade

This is the leftist world they help create. By constantly pushing the woke envelope and having nothing much else to offer other than virulent anti-Trump hatred, they’re losing even their own base. It’s funny in a way, because folks like Schumer, Biden, and Wiener have focused on radical policies (see: open borders), but have not done much to improve the lives of everyday Americans.

Bearing Arms — Why Black Codes Shouldn't Be Viewed as Legal Precedent

I honestly don't see how either Hawaii's attorneys or these two justices were able to look at themselves in the mirror for believing such blatantly racist measures were totally fine precedents for curtailing the rights of others.

HotAir — After A Little Weekend Warrior Work, Iran Is Back In the M.O.U. Box

This time, when Iran flexed, they got clotheslined by Secretary of State Rubio with the deal between Israel and Lebanon, lost more offensive capabilities in the Strait, and got forced in short order right back into the box they found themselves 96 hours ago.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

It will be a short week for the critters with the 4th of July/America 250 celebration fast approaching, but the House does have some committee hearings set for early in the week. On Monday, it's just a House Rules Committee meeting: "H.R. 8800 – National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027; H.R. 8884 – Removing Barriers to Work for Disabled Americans Act; H. Res. 1383 – Commemorating the one-year anniversary of the enactment of the Working Families Tax Cuts."

Here's some additional flavor, with Punchbowl spin:

The agenda. The House is beginning another waltz through a legislative minefield this week. Speaker Mike Johnson will try to get the frozen GOP-run chamber working again before the 10-day July 4 recess.

When we left you last week, Johnson had to recess the House after less than two days because Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) and a gaggle of other Republicans vowed to vote against any rule. These conservatives are upset about the Senate’s inaction on the SAVE America Act, the voter-ID-and-citizenship bill that’s become Trump’s obsession. The question that will dominate this week: what can Johnson do to end this Republican disaster?

Full Court Press...

We had a couple notable recent decisions:

  • ❌ In Kingdom v. Trump (housing of transgender inmates), Judge Royce Lamberth (D.C.) DENIES admin's motion for stay pending appeal.
  • ❌ In American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO v. Trump (dismantling of federal bureaucracy), Judge Susan Illston (Northern District of California) DENIES plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction, but fast-tracks summary judgment on FEMA claims; DENIES admin's motion to dismiss. [6/26]

The big focus today will be on the Supreme Court, as it is set to release additional opinions beginning at 10:00 AM Eastern.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

As noted, the Supreme Court will be handing down additional decisions today (and then likely wrap things up on Tuesday).

President Trump will head to Turkey for the NATO Summit July 7-8.

Also, we've got oodles of America 250 festivities that will be in full swing for the next week.

MORNING MUSING

I know I keep returning to this theme/concept, but after spending much of the weekend interacting with others face-to-face and watching some of the World Cup games (where thousands of fans have been busy cheering on their teams and getting caught up in the excitement of it all) as well as some of the Great American State Fair coverage....I have to emphasize it again: We are better off (as a country and as a species) when we interact with others face-to-face, rather than online.

Of course there are negative face-to-face interactions. And yes, sometimes, we all need some downtime. But overall, it's clear as the day is long — when we actually, physically spend time with others, we are healthier, happier, and much better off.
