Sunday evening marks the beginning of Hanukkah this year, and sadly, it's already been tragically marred by the horrific terror attack at Bondi Beach in Australia. While we're still receiving updates on that awful situation, there's more disturbing news hitting closer to home.
Rodgir Cohen, a political science professor at Mira Costa College and university lecturer, shared an X post on Saturday indicating that his home, in Redlands, California, had been attacked in a drive-by shooting on Friday evening.

Cohen posted what appears to be doorbell/Ring camera footage of a sedan driving slowly by the property, while what sounds like over a dozen shots ring out before the car speeds away. At the end of the video, a man's voice can be heard yelling, "F** the Jews!"
Cohen also shared a photograph of the targeted Hanukkah display.

Additional information on the incident is scant at the moment, but per this article, local law enforcement has confirmed it is investigating the incident.
REDLANDS, California – A Jewish family’s home in Redlands, California, was attacked late last night in what community leaders are describing as a disturbing antisemitic incident that coincided with the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. The home was clearly decorated with Hanukkah symbols, including a menorah displayed in a window, according to individuals familiar with the incident.
Local law enforcement has confirmed it is investigating damage to the residence. Authorities have not yet released full details about the nature of the attack or whether suspects have been identified. Police said the investigation remains active and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The report calls to mind a similar disturbing incident that occurred here in Missouri, in August, when three vehicles outside the home of a Jewish family were damaged by what authorities believe to be an intentionally set fire. The culprits left behind antisemitic graffiti on the street.
Police released surveillance video of the suspect in that incident as well.
Clayton police are asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest in an August fire they are investigating as a hate crime.
The department on Monday released two videos taken from cameras along Westmoreland Avenue. The department confirmed the footage was of the same person taken at two different times, but would not be more specific.
...
In the first video, an individual wearing a light-colored top and what appears to be a black backpack walks west on Westmoreland at a leisurely pace before pausing at a house just east of where the fire occurred. The person then turns and walks back east on Westmoreland at a faster pace. In the second video, the same individual, now wearing a dark-colored hoodie, walks down a driveway.
In both videos, the person is wearing dark-colored shoes with a lighter-colored sole. In the second video, they are wearing a light-colored bag across their chest.
Thankfully, it appears no one was injured in the Redlands incident. Hopefully, with the aid of the video footage, authorities will be able to track down the perpetrator(s).
RedState will continue to follow this story and provide updates as warranted.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is saddened by the act of violence targeting a home displaying Hanukkah decorations in our community and by the horrific terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney. No one should ever feel threatened for expressing their faith or identity. These acts of hatred, whether here at home or abroad, stand in stark contrast to the values of tolerance, dignity, and unity that bind us together. We must stand in solidarity with those affected and reaffirm that violence and extremism have no place in our communities.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department emphasizes the importance of the “See Something, Say Something” approach. Community awareness and timely reporting are critical to public safety. If you observe suspicious behavior, concerning activity, or potential threats, please report it immediately to law enforcement. Speaking up can help prevent violence and keep our communities safe.
