The Week Climate Catastrophism Lost Its Grip

If there is a real “tipping point” in climate discourse, it may not be in the atmosphere but in public consciousness — a shift away from fear toward evidence, from censorship toward open debate.

'Irony Is Dead': Newsom Makes Desperate Move After DOJ Announcement About Prop 50 Election Observers

As RedState readers know, if Proposition 50 is approved by voters, it would allow Democrats to proceed with their gerrymandering of the congressional districts in the state, where the map has already been massively altered in order to benefit Democrats.

Here's How the Policies of Newsom, Gascon, and Weiner Led to 'the Trafficked Girls of LA's Figueroa St.'

While the NYT clutches its pearls over the horror of trafficked girls, it continues to run cover for the politicians who foster the atmosphere and push the legislation that keeps this blight in place.

Antifa Announces Uniform Change to Look More Like This Hamas Terrorist

At least the Trump administration is taking this threat seriously. While the likes of Portland, Seattle, and the Bay Area play footsie with these terrorists, these open revolutionaries are carrying out violent revolution right before our eyes.

Schumer Shutdown Day 28...

The Senate is holding a handful of hearings/meetings on Tuesday:

  • Senate Armed Services — Hearings to examine the nominations of Marc Berkowitz, of Virginia, Joseph Jewell, of Indiana, and James Caggy, of New York, each to be an Assistant Secretary, and Brendan Rogers, of Connecticut, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Navy, all of the Department of Defense
  • Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Oceans, Fisheries, Climate Change, and Manufacturing — Hearings to examine reviving commercial shipbuilding
  • Senate Judiciary — Hearings to examine competition issues in the seed and fertilizer industries
  • Senate Judiciary, Constitution Subcommittee — Hearings to examine politically violent attacks, focusing on a threat to our constitutional order

Also, on Monday, the Senate confirmed Rebecca L. Taibleson to be a United States Circuit Judge for the 7th Circuit and Bill Lewis to be a United States District Judge for the Middle District of Alabama.

They're going to make a run at Lucky #13 on the CR vote at 11:30 AM Eastern on Tuesday. Will the fact that the AFGE has now publicly called for Senate Dems to get their act together and vote to open the government result in any vote changes?

White House What's Up

Full Court Press...

There weren't a ton of notable court decisions on Monday involving Trump administration litigation:

  • State of Washington v. Dept. of Education (denial of federal grants) — Judge Kymberly Evanson (Western District of Washington) GRANTS plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction.

We did see a ruling from the judge presiding over the trial of Charlie Kirk's accused assassin regarding some of the conditions of his court appearance(s).

COMING ATTRACTIONS

President Trump is heading to South Korea. Will he add a visit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un to the trip?

We're just one week away from Election Day...in Virginia, in New Jersey, and in New York City, among other places.

We're still awaiting a move from the Supreme Court on the Illinois National Guard case, but we may well see a move from the 9th Circuit on the Oregon case (in terms of deciding whether it will rehear its previous stay of the district court TRO en banc) first.

MORNING MUSING

Today's musing is inspired by a conversation we had on the morning show — with the Schumer Shutdown continuing on, SNAP benefits are about to run out, and that could leave those who are dependent on them in a real bind. I did see that Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-1) introduced a standalone bill to fund the program through the shutdown, but I don't know if that's going to go anywhere. (It should — make the Dems vote down food stamps on the record for their leverage.)

We were talking about the fact that when you give the government the power to feed you...you also give the government the power to starve you. It's true: The more power you cede to government, the more powerless and dependent you become. While they continue to wrangle about the shutdown in the Swamp, this is a moment to recognize the downside of outsourcing our "charity" to the government rather than engaging in it on a personal, local level — via food banks, local churches, etc.

That conversation prompted me to make the following observation: God is love, government is not.™

Kind of like that. Might make a t-shirt out of it.

Editor’s Note: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
