Something Is Seriously Wrong With Michelle Obama
Perhaps the former first lady should try touching grass.
Trump Calls Jasmine Crockett 'Low-IQ,' and She Immediately Proves Him Right and Then Lashes Out
Crockett isn't a smart person, but she's sentient enough to understand what she's doing.
Certainly, it’s fair game to disagree with Trump and his policies, but their constant effort to misrepresent his statements highlights what is so very wrong with corporate media.

Trump Calls For Big Cuts to ATF Budget, Citing Attacks on Second Amendment
After the weaponization under Joe Biden's watch the ATF is in serious need of reform, and the president's budget request is a sign that the Trump administration is serious about reining in the agency's abuses.
A Unified Theory of Trump Trolling
Trump's greatest allies are his opposition, who overreact to everything he does and go to ridiculous extremes because he violates the norms they claim (and often do) hold so dear.
Trump Just Got a Game-Changing Legal Victory
The significance of this decision extends far beyond these specific cases—it establishes clear jurisdictional parameters that could affect dozens of pending lawsuits against Trump administration policies.
The Anti-Trump Media Is Awfully Quiet About This Story Now
As we’ve noted, Trump plays these games with the media, Democrats, and his political enemies like it’s a best-of-seven series.
Worst ... Star Wars Sequel ... EVER! J.B. Pritzker Comes Back for More Punishment on Star Wars Day
We're not sure why Pritzker keeps insisting on posting this same photo and caption every year of Star Wars Day.
But as long as he keeps doing it, we'll keep laughing at him.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
Before they pour out the margaritas (one hopes), the critters are back in action on the Hill Monday with a handful of meetings/hearings set:
- House Veterans' Affairs, Technology Modernization Subcommittee — Improving Access to External VA Care through Enhanced Scheduling Technology
- House Rules — H.R. 276 – Gulf of America Act of 2025; H.R. 881 – DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act5
- Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry — Business meeting to consider the nominations of Stephen Vaden, of Tennessee, to be Deputy Secretary, and Tyler Clarkson, of Virginia, to be General Counsel, both of the Department of Agriculture
The key focus in the coming weeks is going to be the reconciliation package. On Sunday, Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-WY) expressed confidence that the Senate would meet or exceed the House's proposed spending cuts as part of the package.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) also expressed optimism that they "will get this done for the American people."
Here’s the progress report on the “One Big, Beautiful Bill”: With seven committees completing their mark ups, and only four committees left to go, the House is working on an aggressive timeline.

White House What's Up
President Donald Trump, who's been busy giving interviews and whatnot, is set to "deliver a Sports Announcement" at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. (Per Axios, it's likely to be that D.C. will host the 2027 NFL Draft.) He'll sign more executive orders in the afternoon, then he "welcomes home a returned Citizen." (We're not yet sure who that is.) In the evening, he'll attend a MAGA, Inc. dinner at Trump National Golf Club in D.C.
Over the weekend, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha attended the Evening Parade at Marine Barracks Washington.

Full Court Press...
Jury selection begins today in the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs in New York over sex trafficking and racketeering charges. That trial is expected to last several weeks (at least).
There were some notable developments in Trump administration litigation over the weekend. First, we had Judge Beryl Howell (D.C.) going full theater kid in her Shakespearean excoriation of the administration over its actions regarding the Perkins Coie law firm. Then, the administration filed an emergency application with the Supreme Court over a Maryland judge's ruling regarding DOGE's access to the Social Security Administration. And then the D.C. Circuit surprised almost everyone with a reasoned decision in a group of cases regarding the United States Agency for Global Media (which oversees six federally funded broadcast networks, including Voice of America).

Wow: D.C. Circuit Hands Trump Administration a Huge Win That Will Have Far-Reaching Implications
The Supreme Court hasn't yet announced when its next decision hand-down days will be, but we can expect those to start rolling out soon. And we may see some additional orders issued regarding some of these emergency applications. As always, we'll be monitoring and report on significant developments.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
As noted, President Trump plans to make a "sports announcement" Monday afternoon. We may be seeing some additional announcements soon in terms of trade agreements, as well.
Expect the jockeying for Gerry Connolly's (D-VA) leadership spot on the Oversight Committee to continue.
And expect news (and speculation) to continue burbling up regarding the reconciliation package as Congress (Republicans in particular) attempt to wrestle it over the finish line.
MORNING MUSING
I don’t recall hearing about “Cinco de Mayo” as I was growing up. It wasn’t until I was an adult and viewed it as an excuse to have a margarita or two that it took on any significance for me. And even then, it was sort of just another day to meet up with friends and enjoy Mexican food and drink (in honor of the Mexican victory at the Battle of Puebla – which Mexico doesn’t even really celebrate, though I’m sure they appreciate us doing so for them?!)
I have a handful of fun, silly Cinco memories which needn’t be repeated. I have a fond memory of my daughter’s first Cinco — itty-bitty, not yet two months old, bundled in her pumpkin seat, hanging outside at our favorite Mexican restaurant with a dear group of friends I don’t get to see so much anymore.
Cinco de Mayo took on a different meaning for me 19 years ago: It was the day my grandmother went to be with God — which somehow seemed appropriate, as she loved her trips to Mexico AND loved a reason to celebrate. I believe she was ready to go. We’d celebrated her 100th birthday two months earlier. She’d lived a long, full life, and I believe she was at peace. But in a lot of ways, I’m still not ready for her to go. Or I wish she could come back and visit every once in a while. There’s so much I’d love to sit and chat with her about – over margaritas and a mean game of Canasta.

I am all about this.
