TOP O' THE MORNIN'

Jill Biden Orchestrated Kimberly Cheatle Heading the Secret Service, Now Everyone Is Doubling Down

None of this is going to change on its own. The only way through this is to vote Biden out of office and fire every single one of these failed department heads.

Biden Tells Boatload of Lies in New Interview, Insults Voters, Makes Whopper of a Mistake

Biden's done a lot -- virtually all of it bad, and people remember how much better they had it under Trump.

REPORT: Police Spotted Trump Rally Shooter Nearly a Half Hour Before Shots, and It Gets Worse

So, how do you get from him getting onto the roof to being able to get off a shot? It's just insane, and the Secret Service leadership needs to answer for those failures.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

As noted on Monday, the critters are out this week due to the RNC Convention, so there's not a lot of activity on the Hill itself. There is one meeting on Tuesday: The Joint Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (U.S. Helsinki Commission) is holding a meeting "to receive a briefing on Russia's ecocide in Ukraine, focusing on environmental destruction and the need for accountability."

There is also continuing scrutiny as to what went wrong with the Secret Service and failed security efforts leading up to the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on Saturday.

White House What's Up

It's a quiet morning for President Joe Biden. He'll receive his Daily Briefing early in the afternoon, then participate in a BET interview before delivering remarks to the NAACP National Convention and then participating in an "economic summit" with Rep. Steve Horsford (D-NV).

Full Court Press...

The jury is still deliberating in the corruption trial of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) in the Southern District of New York — will we see a verdict today?

It's hard to imagine there could be bigger court-related news than Monday's bombshell regarding Judge Aileen Cannon's dismissal of the Florida classified documents case against Trump, but who can say?

MORNING MUSING

It's hard to characterize funerals as pleasant, but I can definitely share one positive from the one I attended on Monday (for my sister's father-in-law). The focus during the service and, later, sitting Shiva was, of course, on him, as it should be. And he was remembered well and with much love. But after drowning from the fire hose of breaking news we've been subjected to of late, it was nice to, even for a brief time, step outside of that and back into the human experience — the one where real people of varying backgrounds and viewpoints come together, socialize, speak of things other than politics and, you know, human.

LIGHTER FARE

It's been a rough couple of days...I needed this.
