Elon Musk Wrecks Joe Scarborough and His Wicked Take on the 'Bloodbath' Hoax

“Jan 6 was not a ‘bloodbath’ by any definition and Trump was referring to job losses in the auto industry when he used that word. Your post is extremely misleading,” Musk responded.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Just a couple of hearings set for Monday:

  • House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations - Victims of Regulatory Overreach: How the SEC’s Climate Disclosure Rule Will Harm Americans
  • House Committee on Ways and Means - Access to Health Care in America: Ensuring Resilient Emergency Medical Care

Meanwhile, the Senate continues to ponder the TikTok bill passed by the House, and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) continues to catch (deserved) flak for his remarks criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu/calling for an election.

Full Court Press...

Big day for the First Amendment in the Supreme Court on Monday: The High Court will hear oral argument in Murthy v. Missouri (f/k/a Missouri v. Biden) to determine: (1) Whether respondents have Article III standing; (2) Whether the government’s challenged conduct transformed private social-media companies’ content-moderation decisions into state action and violated respondents’ First Amendment rights; and (3) Whether the terms and breadth of the preliminary injunction are proper.

Also up on the court's docket: NRA v. Vullo, examining: 1. Does the First Amendment allow a government regulator to threaten regulated entities with adverse regulatory actions if they do business with a controversial speaker, as a consequence of (a) the government's own hostility to the speaker's viewpoint or (b)a perceived "general backlash" against the speaker's advocacy? 2. Does such coercion violate a clearly established First Amendment right?

Then, too, the court has until Monday to determine whether to continue the stay on Texas' Senate Bill 4 (allowing state law enforcement officers to arrest and detain those suspected of entering the country illegally).

MORNING MUSING

Word of the weekend: bloodbath. I was worried there might be one (compliments of me) if the beau and I got to our pre-planned dinner at a favorite restaurant Sunday evening and found they were out of the promised corned beef and cabbage St. Patrick's Day special (which happened last year). To avoid that possibility, I made our reservation for 5:00 pm this year. Surely that was early enough!? I'm happy to report it was — but just barely. The waitress told us they ran out right after ours were brought to us. Bloodbath avoided. Narrowly.
