Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg held a press conference Thursday afternoon to announce charges filed against seven illegal aliens involved in a heinous attack on a pair of NYPD officers in late January.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the charges amid public outrage following the attack.

"This assault… sickened me and outraged me," Bragg said during a news conference. "As a lifelong New Yorker, I do not tolerate attacks on our police officers and certainly I do not as Manhattan district attorney."

Of the seven indicted suspects, five were previously arrested before being released with no bail. Two others are being sought. Darwin Andres Gomez, 19, Wilson Juarez, 21, Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19, and Yorman Reveron, 24, were part of the initial group of four who were arrested and let go.

Police say that they have skipped town and have headed to California. Jhoan Boada, 22, was arrested later and then released before flipping the bird to waiting reporters.

In the now-viral video of the attack, police say that the migrant stomps on a lieutenant's head as the police officer tries to apprehend a suspect on the ground. The migrant then kicks the other officer in the back before returning and taking a kick at the lieutenant.

Six of the men charged remain at large. According to this report from Fox News, the four men recently arrested in Arizona on a Phoenix-bound bus are not the men suspected in the attack. One of the men, Yohenry Brito, 24, is being held on bail in New York and is set to be arraigned in March.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said he supports deportation in instances like this, stating: "It is my strong belief that if a person commits a serious crime — felony, violent crime — the federal government should do its job and deport that individual if found guilty."

Whether the men responsible will be located and brought to justice remains to be seen

For his part, Bragg said there was extensive confusion around the identity of the men, a group of whom are seen in blurry surveillance footage descending on the two officers in front of a 42nd Street shelter. Not helping matters: federal and local authorities have communication problems.

Mayor Eric Adams, in attendance for the 2 p.m. event, backed Bragg's cautionary approach, he told reporters.

Earlier this week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials put out a statement saying they detained four men in Arizona in connection with the Times Square case. Law enforcement officials in New York insisted the detained men had no connection to their case at all (the men were not linked to Times Square, Bragg said in a statement.)

Police believe up to 13 people may have been involved in the January attack. Details on the indictment weren't immediately clear Thursday, as far as the seven people charged. But Bragg said he felt confident that his office had identified all the roles of people who broke the law and participated in the attack.
