Moore to the Point - Oversight

Recently, I remarked on the value of congressional hearings, even if repercussions for any wrongdoing exposed may not be immediate or obvious. One of the key committees conducting investigations into potential wrongdoing by Biden family members – including, possibly, the president himself – is chaired by Kentucky Rep. James Comer.

So far, Joe Biden hasn’t really been pressed to provide explanations for – well, honestly, much of anything. For instance, what about those classified documents found scattered about his offices and residences — remember those? Joe’s largely hand-waved those away – just an oversight. (Never mind that he questioned “how anyone could be that irresponsible” regarding Donald Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified documents.)

Last week, the Treasury Department finally agreed to turn over records regarding the 150 some-odd “Suspicious Activity Reports” generated by the Biden family. Then came additional revelations from the committee regarding bank records showing payments to four Biden family members from a Chinese energy company shortly after Biden left the vice presidency – including Hunter, James, Hallie, and a mystery Biden to be named later. Will Joe attempt to wave those payments away as well? Were those just oversights, too?

Let’s hope the committee lives up to both parts of its name: Oversight and Accountability.
