Democrats Are Having a Really Hard Time Letting Go

Now that it’s been announced Hillary Clinton has had her security clearance revoked, it feels like the reign of the boomer progressives has come to an end (at least for the foreseeable future).

But they’re not letting go easily, which might actually explain the outright madness surrounding the Kavanaugh nomination and the almost daily hypocrisy from media who looked the other way for the entire eight years of Obama at things they now clutch pearls and faint over.

Take for example the recent insistence by Democratic legislators and cable news talking heads that the tactics of activists representing the spectrum of the progressive left (from antifa to SCOTUS demonstrators to Hollywood celebrities) is perfectly acceptable behavior. Don Lemon may have been the most visibly distressed by this talking point as he nearly salivated his way through a “debate” with conservative columnist Matt Lewis in which he demanded that everyone agree that groups of people intimidating others are simply not mobs. Or something.

Lemon had an outburst of his own aimed at, again, Matt Lewis.

“Is it mob behavior? No, it’s not mob behavior,” the CNN host said of the people who chased Cruz from the restaurant. “It’s people who are upset, and they’re angry with the way the country is going.”

He continued, adding that the U.S. Constitution allows Americans to protest “wherever you want.”

“To call people mobs because they are exercising their constitutional right is just beyond the pale,” Lemon concluded.

Boy, won’t they be shocked to learn about how Tea Party and other conservative-leaning protesters were treated by the press back in the early days of the Obama administration?

Then there are the myriad ways the system MUST be changed now that Democrats are no longer in power. Here are a few collected in a single tweet.

What’s becoming clearer by the day is that Senator Lyndsey Graham was right when he admonished his Democratic colleagues at the Brett Kavanaugh hearing that they were only after power. But he left something off that admonition: they’re after power that they’ve had for a while and are now losing in the age of Trump, and it’s made them desperate and cantankerous creatures.

The shame of it is that the American federalist system was never intended nor designed toward single party rule. Debate is how we started and it’s how we check ourselves (literally written into our founding documents as a control on power).

The Democrats, while they wail about Republicans controlling both houses of Congress and the Oval Office, should think about scaling back the lunacy and promoting rational actors again so the country can right her ship.

The difficulty is that some of them might be required to relinquish power to make room for that new blood. And so far they’ve shown an unwillingness to do that, opting instead to behave like jilted lovers out for revenge.
