We've known for decades about the insidious anti-America rot that has infested our institutions of higher learning, specifically the professors and administrators for whom indoctrinating hatred against their country and its founding principles instead of educating has become standard operating procedure.
One example revolves around the reactions of certain academic elites in the aftermath of the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023. Instead of condemning the antisemitic demonstrations from radical students in the days and weeks after the horrific attacks, many profs and administrators not only defended them, but joined them.
They also criticized attempts to restore sanity. For instance, Villanova history professor Andrew Liu declared, as he watched the NYPD try to wrest the asylum back from the lunatics at Columbia University, that the "nypd is doing a tiananmen style crackdown in uptown and midtown while an NBA playoff game is happening like 500 meters away." Meanwhile, Guangtian Ha, a religion scholar and professor at Pennsylvania's Haverford College, proclaimed the Columbia clearing was even "WORSE" than Tiananmen Square.

With all of that in mind, we turn to the Michigan Senate race, where former Wayne County health department director Abdul El-Sayed appears poised to become the Democrats' Senate nominee after the state's August 4 primary. El-Sayed, an anti-America, anti-Israel, pro-Hamas leftist, is feared by the Democrat establishment but backed by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Party and America-hating podcaster Hasan Piker. He has only gotten more brazen about his ultra-left positions on the issues the longer the campaign has dragged out.
Now, individual members of academic institutions issuing public endorsements in political races is not unheard of. But the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), a "union and membership association of faculty and other academic professionals," has just put out its first official political endorsement in its 110-year history. Who did they come out for? El-Sayed.
It was proudly announced by AAUP president Todd Wolfson:

Wolfson is also an Associate Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Rutgers, and he is currently listed as "on leave" from 2025-2027. He's also the National Vice President of the American Federation of Teachers.
On his campaign website, El-Sayed lists himself as "a card-carrying union member of AFT Local 477 and 6244, SEIU Local 500, the National Writers Union, and the AAUP." His father, Mohamed, is an engineering professor and was once the president of the Eastern Michigan University chapter of the AAUP.
George Washington University law school professor Jonathan Turley has previously debated Wolfson and provided this insight into how this endorsement wasn't exactly a surprise:
I previously criticized the selection of Wolfson who promised to make the AAUP more of a “fighting organization” for liberal causes. A Rutgers University anthropologist and former union leader, Wolfson is a political activist who doubled down on the ideological intolerance that now defines higher education.
As promised, the AAUP quickly became a more radical and activist organization. It adopted an anti-Israel boycott policy and unleashed attacks on Trump supporters as “fascists.” It has targeted civics centers as conservative breeding grounds. Trinity College Professor Isaac Kamola, the director of the AAUP’s Center for the Defense of Academic Freedom (CDAF), explains that they want to unleash “naming and shaming and discrediting and undermining the legitimacy” of such programs.

The group has also sponsored anti-ICE programs. The AAUP Journal has adopted the same ideological bias.
