RedState reported Tuesday on how GOP Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) masterfully questioned a Democrat abortion advocate during a House hearing on the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Specifically, Gill repeatedly asked her about which abortion procedure was her favorite while describing in gruesome detail what happens during the various procedures.
The witness, American University Washington College of Law Professor Jessica Waters, looked visibly uncomfortable and kept trying to pivot back to the FACE Act. At one point, Gill remarked that "I wouldn't want to talk about this either if I were you, because it's barbaric and evil."
Rep. Shri Thanedar (MI-10) saw the exchange on X and trotted out the tiresome war on women card. When Gill asked what his favorite procedure was, Thanedar responded by virtue signaling that his favorite was the "safe, legal, accessible" kind. He callously added, "And no amount of fearmongering by describing what goes on to a half-ounce fetus with no consciousness, self-awareness, or feeling of pain is going to change that."

Even though we know how inhumane the typical Democrat position on abortion is, seeing it spelled out in much the same way someone would write out a grocery list caused me to gasp, even though, as a former abortion proponent myself, I'm especially familiar with all the arguments and used some of them myself long ago before I saw the light.
But while social media netizens gave Thanedar the business, it was another GOP congressman who really cut Thanedar and his pathetic argument down to size.
Here's what Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06), whose wife, Rachel, is expecting their second child, wrote:
Today, because I’m in Washington, I had to FaceTime in for the ultrasound of our new baby.
It is unconscionable to describe what I saw today as anything other than a beautiful baby made in God’s image.
I saw little hands. Little feet. A heart. A brain. I saw my daughter.
He went on to note that:
I’ll never stop fighting to protect the unborn from monsters like this who would kill them with a smile on their face.
It’s simple. I’m pro-life. Shri is pro-death.
Today, because I’m in Washington, I had to FaceTime in for the ultrasound of our new baby.

I mean, is there any other way to view Thanedar after what he wrote, reducing an unborn child to a clump of cells, a common tactic of the radical pro-abortion left? I mean, it's pretty on the money when you consider that the barbaric abortion procedures he defends are also used on unborn children who are much further along than the ones he described. It turns my stomach just to think about them, let alone talk about them out loud.
This essentially has been the Democrat position for decades, and yet it's pro-lifers who have been labeled "extremists." It's infuriating, but eventually the truth slips out, and the real extremists do us all a favor by more or less saying the quiet part out loud - as Thanedar did this week.
Editor's note: Article has been updated post-publication for clarity to note that McDowell's wife has not yet had her baby. It was a misreading of the tweet. We apologize for the error.
Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
