Nobody likes to talk about feminine hygiene products, including women, believe it or not.
But one Republican female lawmaker is rightly putting the uncomfortable conversation out there in a way that should make her woke Democrat colleagues in the Maryland House of Delegates feel embarrassed, if not ashamed, after the introduction of a bill in February that would mandate putting tampons - yes, tampons - and other such products in men's restrooms in public buildings.
Maryland Democrats are trying to pass a bill that would FORCE all public buildings to provide tampons in MEN's bathrooms.

The summary of Maryland House Bill 941, titled "Public Health – Public Buildings – Hygiene Products," states that it would require "public restrooms in public buildings to provide an adequate supply of hygiene products."
Among other things, the bill notes that "'menstrual hygiene products' means appropriately sized tampons, sanitary napkins, and sanitary pads for use in connection with the menstrual cycle." The bill has one primary sponsor and 16 co-sponsors, all Democrats, of course, but says nothing about why exactly these products are "needed" in men's restrooms, since men don't have menstrual cycles.

Though the bill first debuted on February 5th, apparently a debate on it was recently held on the House floor. And the way Republican Delegate Kathy Szeliga (District 7A) presented her argument against the bill was about the best way one can in a chamber that is dominated by Democrats.
Here's how she reacted to the "appropriately sized" part of the bill during a back-and-forth with a male Democrat delegate, Ken Kerr (District 3), who supports the legislation:
During her remarks, the GOP Maryland lawmaker also questioned language in the bill ordering "appropriately sized tampons" be placed in all public restrooms in all public buildings.
"What are appropriately sized tampons?" Szeliga asked, earning laughter from parts of the House. "I've never heard of such a thing. What do you consider appropriate?"
[...]
In response, Del. Ken Kerr, D-Fredrick County, said that the language "just means that tampons are offered, there's no specific size." Szeliga shot back, arguing that if that is the case, it should say so, and not talk about sizing.
Meanwhile, Szeliga then pivoted to inquire with Democrats about which public buildings would be impacted, with emphasis on the football stadium where the NFL franchise Baltimore Ravens play and the baseball stadium, Camden Yards, where the Baltimore Orioles play. According to Szeliga, both are owned by the Maryland Stadium Authority.
Watch how uncomfortable Kerr looks debating the issue with Szeliga as she cleverly highlights the absurdity of the bill:

The Maryland Republican Freedom Caucus has given the bill what it feels is a fitting nickname, presumably in honor of Minnesota Gov. "Tampon Tim" Walz (D):
Tampons for Timmy — Maryland is bankrupt. Electricity prices are unsustainable & people can’t wait to move. But, that didn’t stop @mddems from forcing you to pay for tampons in men’s restrooms. Join @chisholmstrong & me for the Dumbest Bill in America! pic.twitter.com/ykBnmDyGl1

This is, of course, not the first time we've seen Democrats in state legislatures across the country try to (and in some cases, succeed) push legislation like this. But at a time when it has become abundantly clear that this is an 80-20 issue (with Dems on the wrong side) - and also at a time when Maryland's fiscal house is not in order - it boggles the mind that this would come up at all, much less be a priority.

Given Maryland's budget issues, Szeliga and other Republican lawmakers highlighting the bill's fiscal insanity is smart. Meanwhile, AWFLs (for instance) in the Old Line State are going on record in support of it from a woke perspective because of course.
But Szeliga forcing male Democrat colleagues to debate the "tampon size" part of the legislation is also important, because it helps shine an unflattering spotlight nationally on Democrats in general and just how far they'll continue to go in the name of "tolerance" and "diversity" - at the expense of women's safety.
