It Really Shouldn't Be This Hard to Call Out Evil for What It Is

Prior to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, I was a casual follower of political goings on, and I admit that I didn't know that much about radical Islamic terrorism beyond reading the occasional news story on an overseas terrorist attack, many of which took place in the Middle East.

But like many Americans, the 9/11 attacks changed me. Civilians were targeted. Within our borders. On a large scale. And unlike the 1993 World Trade Center Islamic terrorist attack that killed six, this one claimed a lot more victims.

I was in New York City on September 11, 2001, and it was supposed to be the day my friend and I flew home. But it wasn't meant to be.

After we did get home, some four days later, I did what a lot of people across the country were doing at the time: I continued grieving and praying, and was desperate to understand what happened, why it happened, and just who did this to our great country and its people.

When I went to church that following Sunday, I cried a river of tears as the pastor tried - as the Rev. Billy Graham also did - to explain why God allowed such things to happen.

As the days turned into weeks, I read more and more about Islamofascism, about Osama bin Laden and his terrorist networks, which the Bush administration revealed were behind the attacks that claimed 3,000 innocent lives that day.

Since that time, I haven't been shy about calling out Islamic terrorism, even as the woke left and their politically correct media allies have tried to cancel those of a similar mindset over so-called "Islamophobia," a term which, translated, means being an awful person simply because you're able to recognize that while not all terrorist attacks in the world are committed by Islamofascists, Islam-aligned terror organizations like ISIS remain the most prolific, pervasive, and deadly

Attacks here in the U.S. in 2025 alone, whether committed by a "lone wolf" or not, confirm the growing negative influence of radical Islam in American society, with higher ed playing a huge role in encouraging and perpetuating antisemitic, anti-American, and pro-radical Islamic belief systems among young, impressionable students, some of whom are transplants from parts of the world where violent, anti-western culture has been well-established.

Author and RedState columnist Buzz Patterson explained it well here:

The American left has crossed a line into disloyalty and subversive actions that undermine not only our national interests but those of our allies and fellow democracies. We especially see it in our universities, whose facilities are dominated by radicals who were born during the Vietnam War. We also see this subversion in our corporate media, which has become a critical tool for anti-American leftists and Islamofascists alike.

What gets me is that none of this type of evil should be difficult to call out for what it is, no matter what side of the political aisle on which one resides. President Trump has done it, red state governors have done it, and GOP members of Congress have done it. But only rarely does one see a Democrat or leftist step up and go against the official party "tolerance" line in condemning homegrown Islamofascism. Even more sickening is the fact that it has been embraced to the extent that it's caused far-left extremists with not-so-great intentions to get elected in this country.

What do these people love more? The United States of America, or staying in power by pandering and pretending that the real bad guys are the ones who are trying to protect her? These are absolutely fair questions to be asked.

We are in the fight of our lives for the heart, soul, and future of America. As far as I'm concerned, if you're a candidate for public office and you can't call out what's happening with increasing frequency here in no uncertain terms - and be willing to be part of the solution rather than the problem, then you are unfit to hold that office. Full stop.
