In the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's assassination, there were an alarming number of messages posted on social media from leftists who not only celebrated and/or tried to justify his murder but who, in some cases, suggested that other prominent conservatives should be next on the list.
What was especially disturbing about some of the messages was that they came from members of the media, public school teachers, higher ed professors, healthcare professionals, candidates for office, government employees, and elected officials.
Though the reactions from the Hollywood crowd were decidedly mixed, one who sort of took the high road was "Halloween" actress Jamie Lee Curtis.

Curtis, 66, whose movie career spans nearly 50 years and who has also starred in other Hollywood classics like True Lies and A Fish Called Wanda, first shared her thoughts on Kirk's murder two days after he was killed:
‘I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith,’ she said as her voice broke. ‘And I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith.'
She started to cry as she added: ‘Even though I find what he, his ideas were abhorrent to me. I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith.'
‘And I hope whatever connection to God means that he felt it.’
In part because Curtis is an avowed leftist and in part because she has a 29-year-old son who is transgender and goes by the name Ruby, she received a lot of backlash over expressing sympathy at the time for Kirk, with the woketivist mob believing it was a betrayal of her leftist belief system and family.
It's been seven weeks since Kirk was killed, and apparently, Curtis is now ready to clarify what she said in an effort to try and please people whom you can never please:
So the backlash over the interview was fierce, relentless and “threatening.” “An excerpt of it mistranslated what I was saying as I wished him well — like I was talking about him in a very positive way, which I wasn’t; I was simply talking about his faith in God. And so it was a mistranslation, which is a pun, but not. In the binary world today, you cannot hold two ideas at the same time: I cannot be Jewish and totally believe in Israel’s right to exist and at the same time reject the destruction of Gaza. You can’t say that, because you get vilified for having a mind that says, ‘I can hold both those thoughts. I can be contradictory in that way.’”
So Jamie Lee Curtis felt the need to come out and clarify that she doesn’t wish Charlie Kirk—a murdered 31 year old—well and that she’s not in any way, shape, or form talking about him in a positive light because God forbid, right?

What a world. pic.twitter.com/VJ0nJ9q1qk
For a woman who has spent decades crafting an image of a fierce, tough, strong, independent "kween," it was an extraordinarily cowardly move to backtrack and act like parts of her original statement did not portray him in a positive way.
If she wanted to make that image more believable, she would have stood by her remarks and told the haters to pound sand, but now she's claiming her words about Kirk's faith and the fact that he was a devoted husband and father weren't meant to be praise.
What a joke. What a disappointment. But this is typical of Hollywood leftists (not to mention California Democrats like Gov. Gavin Newsom), so we shouldn't be too surprised by it, though it's nice when they surprise us every once in a while.
Some final thoughts from George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley:
...Hollywood can now be at peace as an entirely craven, intolerant culture. The last thing that a celebrity would want is to be the only person expressing sympathy for a murdered free speech advocate who holds opposing views. It is more than mere orthodoxy; it is sheer insanity.

Not to mention cravenness on steroids.
