Few things are less appropriate than showing a graphic video of a young man being murdered to schoolchildren. This is a hateful act, no matter what message one is trying to convey; we protect children from the harsher aspects of everyday life for a reason, to preserve their innocence until they are at an age where they are more mentally and emotionally equipped to deal with these realities.
That's a fundamental aspect of modern civilization. But a Scarborough, Ontario, schoolteacher reportedly decided to go ahead and show the video of Charlie Kirk's assassination to a class of 10- and 11-year-olds. The Toronto Sun's Joe Warmington broke that story on Friday.
Can anybody imagine a teacher showing students as young as 10 the video of Charlie Kirk being murdered by a gunshot to the neck?
The Toronto District School Board is investigating an allegation of this happening at a Scarborough elementary school.
First, a University of Toronto professor was sent home for an X post that appeared after the shooting suggesting shooting is “too good” for fascists, and now the TDSB has done the same with a teacher who allegedly showed a Grade 5 and 6 class Kirk’s assassination in Utah.
The Corvette Junior Public School teacher was not in class Friday while the TDSB investigates the complaint from parents that a class of 10 and 11 year olds was shown a graphic video of the slaying.
Assuming this is true - the investigation is still ongoing - this seems grounds for dismissal, at the minimum.
But wait! There's more!
“Several students from his class went home and complained to their parents, traumatized at witnessing the on-camera death, which they were forced to witness numerous times over,” a source close to the situation alleged. “Parents subsequently reached out to school administrators, who will be putting him on leave at the start of the school day September 12th 2025.”
“While playing this video repeatedly, he gave a speech to his students regarding anti-fascism, anti-trans, and how Charlie Kirk deserved for this to occur,” the source claimed.
Numerous times over. Why? What possible reason could there be for the repetition? And why would anyone think it's appropriate to lecture a class of 10- and 11-year-olds on far-left political ideology - or, for that matter, any political ideology? Showing the video to college students, well, that's another story. In fact, some of the little left-wing halfwits in the university systems today would do well to have their noses rubbed in it. But not children.

The teacher has, according to Mr. Warmington's report, been suspended from all teaching duties and "will not be at the school." That's the first thing in this affair that makes any sense. I have little (well, no) idea what the process is for firing a teacher in the Canadian school system, but if anything warrants it, this does. This "teacher" should, as swiftly as possible, be relieved of their employment; I'm sure there's a diner somewhere in the Toronto area that needs another poutine cook.
Those of us who saw that video remember it all too vividly. I saw it, just once, and it haunts me; it was a horrible sight. And this teacher showed it to these kids, not once, but "numerous" times. That's hard to fathom. Let's just hope that the Canadian educational system spews this hateful person out on the street, and that whoever they are, they are never allowed near children again, in any capacity.
