Defense of Chicago Teacher’s Vile Kirk Murder Remarks Shows Schools Are Still Deeply Failing Kids

A Chicago school's disgusting defense of one of their teachers who celebrated Charlie Kirk's murder is failing kids by not only defending the mocking of his assassination, but failing to educate these kids on so many levels like the evil of political violence, along with simple things like reading and math.

Nathan Hale Elementary School Principal Dawn Iles-Gomez reportedly wrote an email to parents suggesting one of its elementary teachers, Lucy Martinez, was a victim after she was seen on camera at a "No Kings" rally putting her fingers up to her neck and making a shooting motion at it, mocking Kirk's murder. It was directed at a person going by in a truck that had a Charlie Kirk flag displayed.

The disturbing footage can be seen below.

In the email, which a parent of the school sent to Kirk's close pal, executive producer of "The Charlie Kirk Show," Andrew Kolvet, the principal allegedly made no mention of Martinez's vile actions and instead acted like it was Martinez people should feel sorry for.

Kolvet wrote:

A parent from Nathan Hale Elementary School in Chicago, where Lucy Martinez remains employed, just forwarded this email to us from the school Principal Iles-Gomez. This parent is LIVID that the school is making Martinez out to be a victim without even acknowledging her vile behavior.

It’s simple Nathan Hale and Principal Iles-Gomez: Fire Lucy Martinez for mocking Charlie’s murder, and the attention will subside. We will cheer you on! She failed life’s pop quiz and has no business being around children.

The reported email, in part, read:

Safety continues to be my top priority, which is why I am writing to follow up on a situation regarding social media posts that included potentially threatening language to a staff member. The Chicago Police Department (CPD) is continuing to investigate this situation, and will continue providing our school with extra support during arrival and dismissal until that investigation is complete.

I know that this has been an unsettling day for many in our school community, but I want to assure everyone that learning is continuing to move forward for all students. Our school day was uneventful, and we look forward to welcoming all of our children back to class as normal tomorrow.

In conclusion, Iles-Gomez said all the attention being directed at their school will hopefully "subside soon."

Kolvet called out the principal and said Martinez should be nowhere near kids.

"It's simple, Nathan Hale and Principal Iles-Gomez: Fire Lucy Martinez for mocking Charlie's murder, and the attention will subside. We will cheer you on! She failed life's pop quiz and has no business being around children."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also reacted to the now-viral video and school's alleged response.

"Translation: the principal agrees with hatefully celebrating murder," Cruz wrote on X. "Tragically, the Left continues to embrace political violence."

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis had similar thoughts:

Really disturbing that this person is teaching children. Unhinged.

So, this school failing these kids by not calling out the teacher and her vile actions, making it clear political violence is never okay. Should we really be surprised that this same school is failing to teach and educate kids on basic things like reading, writing, and arithmetic?

According to the US News and World Report:

At Nathan Hale Elementary School, 56% of students scored at or above the proficient level for reading.

And according to GreatSchools.org, the elementary school's state-required test scores are the following:

English 32 percent, below the state's average of 41 percent.

Math 19 percent, below the state's average of  28 percent.

The kids in Chicago deserve better than Iles-Gomez, Martinez, and a failed public education system.
