As expected, the big pivot being done by the mainstream press in the aftermath of fresh revelations about former President Joe Biden's decline has been to suggest that, because of the "mistakes" (in their words) made in their non-reporting on Biden's cognitive health while he was in office, they needed to make sure they didn't take the same approach with President Donald Trump (as if they ever would).
One of the authors of "Original Sin," CNN's Jake Tapper, has revealed this strategy in multiple interviews about the exposé he wrote with Axios reporter Alex Thompson, emphasizing "transparency" and saying, “This goes beyond Joe Biden. It should be relevant to Donald Trump and whoever comes after Donald Trump."
It's a point that has been echoed by many others in the MSM, including by some of Tapper's CNN colleagues as well as former NBC News "Meet the Press" anchor Chuck Todd.
Predictably, Democrats who colluded with the press in the cover-up of Biden's declining health are now taking the Tapper talking point about Trump and running with it, with emerging Democrat "leader" Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) saying in an interview this week that we need to look into whether Trump himself is experiencing a cognitive decline and maybe even explore 25th Amendment options considering his policy positions and public statements:
🚨NEW: Jasmine Crockett has nerve to suggest 25th Amendment should be used on Trump — after 4 years of Biden🚨

And in a particularly revealing moment - and not in a good way for Crockett - she said she'd never seen any evidence of issues with Biden's cognitive health, but that even if she did, she'd still prefer a "mentally deficient" man in the White House over Trump:
🚨NEW: Jasmine Crockett calls Biden's decline "false narrative" and suggests he was sharp as a tack — before finally acknowledging even if he was "mentally deficient," she was fine with it🚨

Translating that, what Crockett is saying in a nutshell is that she would be okay with unelected people making the decisions for this country on the down low (which many are alleging happened in the Biden-Harris administration) in the event its president was no longer able to do so, as long as it kept someone she didn't like out of office.

I'm really not sure what makes her look worse here - her lying like so many leftists in claiming she didn't see evidence of Biden's decline, or the fact that she endorsed the idea of having nameless aides who the American people didn't vote for do the job in that president's place.
I can't stress enough how dangerous this line of thinking is because, whatever you may think of your political opposition, the devil you know is better than the one you don't. And it's better to know who you're dealing with in the Oval Office than to have shadowy figures who, at least in the short term, won't be answerable to the public or Congress, effectively setting fire to the Constitution by taking over and enacting their own agenda.
Sadly, Crockett represents a House district that is so blue that there have been instances in recent election cycles, including 2024, where there was no Republican opposition. Hopefully, one of these days, Texas Democrats will do the right thing and primary her, but I won't hold my breath.
