WATCH: Nancy Pelosi Goes Pants on Fire When Confronted on Her Handling of Trump Impeachment Inquiry

As RedState previously reported, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's announcement Tuesday that he was opening up an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden was of course met with the usual gnashing of teeth on the left, while some power players on the right took issue with it for much different reasons

But while that heated debate is ongoing, one subject that really shouldn't be up for debate at this point is the issue of how former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi handled the impeachment inquiry into then-President Donald Trump in 2019 over the alleged "quid pro quo" phone conversation Trump had with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the post-Capitol riot impeachment inquiry she started in January 2021.

As McCarthy has stated, Pelosi set the precedent with her initial decision to not hold a formal vote on an impeachment inquiry in the fall of 2019 after Democrats had already started their investigations and accordingly, McCarthy is now abiding by that precedent.

But on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program Thursday, Pelosi, who just announced she is running for reelection, was confronted by co-host Willie Geist with McCarthy's remarks on how she managed the 2019 impeachment inquiry (by not holding a formal vote at first). She didn't like being reminded of it, and called it "hogwash." Further, she expressed shock that so many in the media were "repeating" McCarthy's argument for why he wasn't holding a vote at this time:

The receipts don't lie, though. From an October 15, 2019 report:

“There’s no requirement that we have a vote so at this time we will not be having a vote and I’m very pleased with the thoughtfulness of our caucus with the path that we are on,” Pelosi said in news conference Tuesday evening, following a meeting with her caucus.

Watch:

This was roughly three weeks after their inquiry, complete with calling supposed witnesses and all the rest, had started.

Another inconvenient reminder for Pelosi is in the second impeachment inquiry she launched against Trump after the events of January 6, 2021, she didn't hold a vote at all:

However, during Trump's second impeachment in 2021, the House did not vote on an impeachment inquiry at all. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, like McCarthy is doing now, formally announced the inquiry, but the chamber did not end up voting on it.

As I recall, McCarthy said in so many words to Pelosi during the 2019 inquiry that if she went forth with it without a formal House vote it would come back to haunt her one day. Well, now is obviously that time.
