Ever since the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, it has been a tradition for the President of the United States to visit New York City, specifically, the site of the two 110-story World Trade Center towers that radical Islamic terrorists attacked first on that fateful day, using jumbo jets as weapons of mass destruction.

The World Trade Center is where the most loss of life occurred, with 2,753 killed, including two whose remains were identified just three days ago, making them "the 1,648th and 1,649th victims whose remains have been identified since 2001."

The memory of 9/11 is painful for many, especially and most importantly the survivors as well as family members of those who lost their lives. But there has been growing concern over the years that the day would one day be forgotten, be viewed as just another day, or as something treated as a mere footnote in America's history by future leaders of this country.

Judging by his anniversary visits to New York City during the first two years of his presidency, Joe Biden hasn't forgotten about 9/11. 

But the actions he took in recent days and statements made by members of his administration have raised some eyebrows and caused some anger on that front, especially the one given Monday by an unnamed official who, according to Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy, gave a rather callous response when asked why Biden wouldn't be in NYC on this somber day.

"The analogy that I was given," Doocy reported, "is that 22 years after Pearl Harbor, U.S. Presidents were not still going to visit Hawaii."

The person sent in Biden's place was Vice President Kamala Harris. First Lady Jill Biden was at the Pentagon for their memorial remembrance, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff was in Shanksville, Pennsylvania for theirs.

According to reports, Biden will be in Alaska where he will give a speech highlighting the calls to military service that were felt after 9/11. Here's how MSNBC lovingly portrayed the White House's 9/11 commemoration efforts:

The explanation given by that White House official along with Biden's supposed salute to service that he is going to give in Alaska is not going to go over well, especially with those who are already worried that the day will one day be viewed as an afterthought. 

Not only that, but Biden is fresh off of widespread criticism over his response to the Maui fires, which first was to go on another vacation and issue an insensitive "no comment" answer when asked about the rising death toll, and then to briefly visit Hawaii and make jokes about his Corvette before returning to his vacation.

Leaders lead, while wannabe leaders repeatedly head out for vacation and leave the heavy lifting for others. While that might be fine for the Biden faithful, the so-called leader of the free world might be surprised come Election Day to find that for some, his failure to lead on these matters - and others - was a bridge too far.
