As we’ve reported on numerous occasions, Squad member Cori Bush (D-Mo.) is the gift that keeps on giving for Republicans, and on Wednesday she proved that all over again with predictable yet contemptible comments she made about Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.).
Donalds has been nominated for Speaker of the House in the new Congress, a move that is a direct challenge to Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who at various points over the last several election cycles has been voted in by his colleagues to the top GOP post in the House, most recently in the House Minority Leader role in 2020.
Rep. Donalds is supported by Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), who has helped lead the fight against McCarthy smoothly sliding into the Speaker role and who, like Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) among others, says that the status quo in the Republican party has got to go.
But “woke” Democrat Bush is doing her thing in the midst of all the high drama on the Hill, with the latest example being her twisted attack on Donalds.
On Wednesday afternoon and just as Donalds’ nomination, though it fell short, continued to put serious kinks in McCarthy’s plan, Bush took to the Twitter machine to share her thoughts on the historic nature of Donalds’ nomination for House Speaker.
In essence, she called him an “Uncle Tom”:
FWIW, @ByronDonalds is not a historic candidate for Speaker. He is a prop. Despite being Black, he supports a policy agenda intent on upholding and perpetuating white supremacy.
His name being in the mix is not progress—it’s pathetic.

No doubt we’ll see other House Dems being tracked down in the hallways by reporters eager to know if they approve of Bush’s remarks, right? Nope:
Guessing @mkraju won’t be strapping on the trainers and chasing down every Democrat in the halls to get their thoughts on this one. https://t.co/6GiHCcpbAu

Not surprisingly, Bush is totally okay with black progress in leadership roles… but only as long as the person has a “D” by their name:

It’s always the same old song and dance with Democrats, isn’t it? They’re big on talk about empowering minority communities but when one comes along who thinks differently, all of a sudden that person is a traitor to their race, gender, heritage, etc.
We’ve seen this play out nationally on multiple occasions with Democrats, like when female supporters of Bernie Sanders were treated like turncoats by so-called “feminists” because they picked Sanders over Hillary Clinton.
These people never have and likely never will get that it’s insulting to choose or favor someone on the basis of their physical characteristics (unless you’re a model or in a similar profession where looks are a big part of the job). It’s what they bring to the table that ultimately matters, not the color of their skin, not their lady or man parts, and not their sexuality.
Just a periodic reminder that when Democrats talk about “diversity of thought” and “coexisting,” they are absolutely, positively, full of you-know-what.
