Kathy Hochul Posts 50 Shades of Cringe 'I'm BBQing!' Pic, Lee Zeldin Skewers Accordingly

We’ve documented numerous instances where Democrats have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are seriously bad at the trite “grillin’ and chillin'” political photo ops that inevitably pop up in an election year.

Unfortunately, we have yet one more to add to the list thanks to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who took a brief break from continuing “to embrace and extend the worst traditions of her disgraced predecessor Andrew Cuomo” by posting a picture Sunday in which she claimed to be “barbecuing.”

“Great day for a barbecue, New York!” she proclaimed while wearing a pristine white apron and dress and standing a good foot away from the grill holding a burger at arm’s length that looked, well, gross:

Congressman Lee Zeldin, who is the Republican gubernatorial nominee who will face Hochul in November, skewered her accordingly after seeing the cringe photo which was missing, among other things, canned beer, sauce-stained clothes, and food that looked remotely edible.

“Rightfully so, Kathy Hochul is getting far more grilled for this badly staged photo op than that hamburger patty she’s awkwardly holding in that 8 second old white apron,” Zeldin tweeted.

Not only that but discerning readers will also note that Hochul apparently does not know the difference between “barbecuing” (which she was not doing) and “grilling” (which she was purportedly doing).

As noted above, Hochul is hardly the first Democrat to be caught committing a “massive crime against grilling,” and sadly she won’t be the last.

There was Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), who is running for the Senate seat currently held by retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman, posting a video back in November where he was seen “flipping” raw burgers on a grill that didn’t look like it was even turned on and asking voters to help “FLIP Ohio blue”:

Ryan’s video was similar to the “grill out” video failed Virginia Democratic gubernatorial nominee Terry McAuliffe did in 2021 in honor of Independence Day, complete with a cheesy American flag polo shirt which might have been the only somewhat decent thing about the video. The first thing he got wrong was referring to the day as “July 4th” instead of “Independence Day.” But there was a lot more he got wrong in the video, which should be obvious to even those with only a mere passing acquaintance on how to cook burgers on a grill:

Then there was failed 2020 North Carolina Democrat Senate nominee Cal Cunningham’s infamous “brioche buns” grillin’ out photo, complete with the (again) clean, brand-spanking-new apron that read “Ambassador for North Carolina BBQ,” which I can assure you was one of the most horrifying moments in NC political history:

Had Cunningham not lost over the affair scandals, this photo may have still kept him out of the Winner’s Circle. Seriously. It went against all that is good and decent about North Carolina and the south. Past candidates for public office here have found this out the hard way.

Maybe Glenn Youngkin defeating McAuliffe and Sen. Thom Tillis defeating Cunningham after the bad BBQ/grillin’ pix were shared is a sign of things to come for Democrats. If so, perhaps we’ll see Zeldin and Ohio Republican Senate nominee J.D. Vance cross over the finish line first in the fall midterms.

In fact, as far as RedState grillin’ expert Joe Cunningham is concerned, Zeldin has just inched closer to possible victory since Hochul’s tweet.

“I’m going to have to change the New York Governor’s Race from Likely Democrat to Leans Democrat over this blunder. Hoping @leezeldin can take advantage of this serious gaffe,” he declared.
