The violence against ICE agents and other federal immigration law enforcement has been getting out of control.
We've seen two separate shootings in Texas: one at an ICE detention center and another at a Border Patrol facility. There have been all kinds of other threats and violence, including in Portland and San Francisco. Portland ICE has been under siege by the anti-ICE crew camped across the street from their headquarters for more than a month.
Assaults on ICE are reportedly up nearly 700 percent over 2024.

Now, President Donald Trump is directly addressing the violence in a new statement where he calls for action against these bad actors, giving the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) "total authorization" to protect ICE and CBP agents. Fox's Bill Melugin reports on his X account:

I am on my way back from Texas, and watched in disbelief as THUGS were violently throwing rocks and bricks at ICE Officers while they were moving down a roadway in their car and/or official vehicle.
Tremendous damage was done to these brand new vehicles. I know for a fact that these Officers are having a hard time with allowing this to happen in that it shows such total disrespect for LAW AND ORDER.
Therefore, I am directing Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and Border Czar, Tom Homan, to instruct all ICE, Homeland Security, or any other Law Enforcement Officer who is on the receiving end of thrown rocks, bricks, or any other form of assault, to stop their car, and arrest these SLIMEBALLS, using whatever means is necessary to do so. I am giving Total Authorization for ICE to protect itself, just like they protect the Public. I never want to see a car carrying a Law Enforcement Officer attacked again! AUTHORIZATION IMMEDIATELY GRANTED FOR ARREST AND INCARCERATION.

I think they were doing what they could to deal with such attackers before this, but I think this is giving them the support they need at this point, while they are under attack from these crazy leftists. Now they know they have the president's complete support if they respond. This is so important for morale, as these agents are under constant threat and abuse.
They need to lock these guys up, for this to stop. For example, the attack on agents in San Francisco became a brawl. Their priority was to get the agents out and safe.

But multiple people attacked and obstructed the agents. I'm not sure how many, if any, were arrested. It didn't look like any were, except the guy they were originally detaining from the immigration court. They need to suffer more consequences.
If anyone was holding back for any reason, Trump has released them to act as they should and has dropped the hammer on all this craziness.
