Their reactions were entirely predictable, but nevertheless some of the hot takes from liberals and mainstream media types regarding the successful strike against Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani in Iraq have really revealed much about the state of the American left, and none of it good.

One especially illuminating hot take that got lost in the shuffle in the aftermath of the breaking news of Soleimani’s demise came from Young Turks commentator Emma Vigeland, who opined that the United States taking out Soleimani was not any different than if Iran took out Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on American soil – except to Vigeland, the one against Pompeo might be more, ya know, justifiable and stuff:

Imagine the Iranian government assassinated Mike Pompeo with a drone, at the direction of the president, and called it self defense.

That’s exactly what the US did by killing Soleimani — an act of war.

The only difference is Iran’s self defense claims would be more legitimate.

Now keep in mind that to the Young Turks gang, anyone to the right of Stalin is not left wing enough to cut it in their world. So Vigeland taking Iran’s side is not exactly shocking news. But her remarks did provide an opportunity for someone on the right to point out a brutal truth about liberals when it comes to their bizarre reactions to the U.S. taking care of business when it comes to eliminating threats.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), who has a little experience in calling out Young Turks blowhards, helpfully stepped up to the plate and knocked a homerun out of the park:

Not even close. Soleimani is not a cabinet official in Iran. Pompeo isn't a member of the armed forces and actively directing terrorist organizations to kill Iranian military and embassy personnel inside the borders of another nation. But other than that exactly the same thing.
