Tulsi Gabbard: I Am Not Going to Run as a Third Party Candidate, Hillary Clinton, but Here's What I *Will* Do

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) shook up the political world late last month when she announced she would not run for reelection to her Congressional seat, instead deciding to focus solely on her long-shot bid for the presidential nomination.

Her announcement led to a lot of speculation as to just what her future political plans might be. Would she turn her candidacy into a third-party run, which some suggested would make the road to victory for the eventual Democratic presidential nominee harder?

While Gabbard stated back in August she had no plans to embark on an independent run for president, the questions and concerns from Democrats persisted. And in light of her pushback against Hillary Clinton’s comments suggesting she was being “groomed” by the Russians as a third party candidate, along with her announcement that she wouldn’t run for reelection to Congress, those fears escalated.

Gabbard shared a video clip over the weekend of an interview she did at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit the same week she stated she was not running for reelection. During the question and answer segment, Gabbard was asked if there was “any scenario” where she saw herself going her own way on a presidential run, and she once again emphatically stated no, she wouldn’t.

What did she say she would do? “Take back” the party from who she called “corrupt warmongers.” She also stated she wanted to help her party and country go back to being for the people and by the people, which she believes they have gotten away from:

Gabbard’s reference to “corrupt warmongers” was a not-so-veiled shot at Hillary Clinton, who she also called a “warmonger” in response to Clinton’s absurd allegations about her being a “Russian asset.”

The Hawaii congresswoman has been a frequent critic this year of the party’s lurch to the far left including on issues like abortion on demand. So whether or not she eventually does become the nominee, if she can pull them back off that crazy cliff, that would be great – not just for her party but for America in general.

Our cultural shifts seem to go whichever way Democrats decide they should, so it would be welcomed thing indeed if she could aid in efforts to undo some of the damage the more “woke” members of her party have already done to this country. Not only that, but watching Gabbard continue to be a thorn in the side of a bitter Hillary Clinton is a something many of us will never tire of.

Stay tuned.
