Kamala Harris Is Urging US Companies to Invest Dollars to Create Jobs Outside US

It has been something of a parlor game on the right over the last several weeks — what exactly VP Kamala Harris has been doing on the issue since that day, more than two months ago, when Joe Biden handed her a bag of burning feces called the Biden Administration border policy and told her to figure out a way to put out the fire.

Now we can see her hard work bearing fruit:

From the AP story covering the event:

Harris issued what her office described as a “call to action” for businesses and nonprofits to make new commitments to promote economic opportunity in Central America. At an event announcing the initiative, Harris declared that private businesses have “a very significant role to play in creating jobs and promoting economic opportunity and creating long-term development.”

OUTSOURCING!!  As a governmental policy intended to deal with the fallout of another government policy, let’s encourage and applaud US companies to invest money in creating or funding job development in other countries.

Why didn’t anyone think of that before?  If U.S. businesses will spend profits in foreign countries to create foreign jobs then that money won’t be available to spend in the US to create domestic jobs then we can have open borders — and the only people who will want to leave these foreign countries and come to the United States are those people who don’t want to work and would rather have the generous social benefits funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Got that?

I remember reading much commentary at the time that Biden was setting Harris up to fail by handing her an intractable problem created by policy choices that were a sop to the “open borders” crowd in the Democrat party. The policies weren’t going to change — at least that was the view then — so, the solution had to be in addressing the horrendous fallout from the “open borders” approach.

In true Democrat party fashion, the first instinct was to just throw money at the problem. Identifying Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador as the primary sources of the migrant caravans making their way to the United States since the election in November 2020, Harris announced hundreds of millions of dollars in assistance to those three countries in late April:

In light of the dire situation and acute suffering faced by millions of people in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, Vice President Harris announced an additional $310 million in U.S. government support for humanitarian relief and to address food insecurity”….

The NY Post story notes that almost from the moment she was given the assignment, Harris has always treated it as if the solution to the border crisis was in other countries and not with U.S. policy,  or the near elimination of border enforcement and security under the watch of the Hiden/Barris Administration.

“I have been asked to lead the issue of dealing with root causes in the Northern Triangle, similar to what then-Vice President [Joe Biden] did many years ago.”

On Tuesday, Harris will take part in a virtual roundtable hosted by the US Embassy in Guatemala City with “representatives from Guatemalan community-based organizations.”

The meeting “will underscore the importance of placing the Guatemalan people at the center of solutions to root causes of migration.”

What Vice President Joe did many years ago has contributed to the mindset of people south of the border, who were simply waiting for President Trump to leave office and take his hardline border policies with him. Mexican President Manuel López Obrador quite correctly placed the blame for the current problems on the campaign comments of Candidate Joe, and the policies of the Joe Administration for creating expectations among the illegal migrants that they would be let into the U.S. — simply by virtue of making it to the border.

Now, rather than address the problem at the U.S. border and inside the United States — in ways that do create jobs inside the United States — Harris’ brilliant tactic is to make it so that migrants willing to work will no longer want to leave their home countries.

It seems to me that those are the immigrants we should be welcoming into the country — in accordance with the legal processes created by Congress.

It’s like the Democrats have no interest in whether immigrants coming to the U.S. have a desire to work once they get here, or if that should be a consideration for admission.

It’s almost like they have an ulterior motive for allowing in hundreds of thousands (or millions) of foreign migrants, who most want to be given stuff by a Democrat-led administration.

If only there was some reason why this is happening.

Did you ever hear about the time California had GOP politicians elected statewide at both the state and federal levels? There was even a time when California’s Electoral College votes were considered safely in the GOP column. But, no more.
