Despite facing a proverbial “perfect storm” with recession fears, stock market volatility, and talk of tariffs — all multiplied by constant media attacks — recent polling data shows that more Americans view the Republican Party as being better equipped to handle the economy compared to the Democratic Party.
The public as a whole sees the GOP as relatively effective.
It’s true that for decades, Democrats were widely seen as the party of the middle class. In 1989, they held a significant 23-point advantage on the question of which party best represented middle-class interests. But that has all changed.
A May 2025 CNN/SSRS poll shows Republicans with a 7-point lead when people are asked which party is closer to their economic views. In a different poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, asking which party has the better economic plan, the GOP lead grew from +9 in May 2024 to +12 in May 2025, signaling increased confidence in Trump's economic leadership during his second term.
Unless you’re still at home hiding from COVID under a blanket and isolated from the real world, this shouldn’t be a surprise. And yet, CNN hosts were completely baffled when reporting on the issue — another sign that today’s Democratic Party is completely disconnected from the average American.
I’ve seen this firsthand in the door-knocking campaigns we’ve done for pro-liberty, America First candidates. You can learn a lot about what people think from just talking with ordinary Americans in the comfort of their own homes, when they’re not surrounded by crowds or news cameras.
The truth is that the public has been vocal and clear in their outrage over the waste, fraud, and abuse uncovered by Elon Musk’s DOGE, and long before that, they consistently expressed their anger over the devaluation of the U.S. dollar, driven by the countless stimulus programs and other wasteful spending over the years. They’ve watched helplessly as their purchasing power has plummeted due to inflation and their retirement accounts have been eroded by rampant inflation. They've felt like their opportunity to achieve the American Dream has been slipping from their grasp, and last November, they voted to change that.

And now we’re faced with Déjà Blue yet again. In other words, the Democrats are up to their same old tactics.
Rather than getting on board with what citizens are demanding, the Democrats have fought tooth and nail to maintain the status quo, and this is exactly why polling data shows that trust in the party’s ability to manage our economy continues to decline.
I’ll be the first one to admit that the Republicans’ plans are far from perfect. The budget reconciliation bill is a perfect example of that.
But despite its flaws, more Americans today trust the Republicans to fix our economic mess than they do the Democrats, and that’s a clear sign that they’ve grown tired of the polices they’ve seen from Democrats over the last few decades. They want a change, and while they may not love everything the Republicans are proposing, they absolutely want drastic change, and they know Republicans are their only shot at achieving that.
It’s critical that we remember now is not the time to get complacent. Americans are more optimistic about the future under a Republican leadership, and that buys us a lot of political capital, but they need to see results — and they need to see them soon.
I’ve said before that the old political model of empty platitudes, hollow promises, and expensive advertising campaigns doesn’t work anymore. The consulting class continues to loot from the dreams of the average voter, leaving many disillusioned with the process because, for them, the process never delivers. The American public has seen that far too much over the years, and frankly, they’re tired of it. What we need today is to give people what they’re asking for, and this isn’t just another slick strategy to win over voters — it’s exactly how a government for the people and by the people is supposed to operate.
Anything less is an insult to our citizens and should result in being voted out of office in the next election cycle.
That’s what Americans deserve, and I will do everything in my power to help deliver exactly that.
