Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's Letter to the American People Is Something Else

I think it's tough to be a leader in Iran right now.

You might be eliminated by the U.S. and Israel. Or you might get whacked by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), if they think you are being too soft in response to the military action against them and are for making a deal.

Then, too, you don't know the truth of what they're saying from one minute to the next.

President Donald Trump said the Iranian president wanted a ceasefire, but Trump wanted them to open up the Strait of Hormuz first. The Iranian president is Masoud Pezeshkian. Iran is now denying that it asked for a ceasefire. But it also previously denied it was negotiating when it clearly is.

Now Pezeshkian has issued a "letter to the American people." Hello, festival of political gaslighting and trying to manipulate the American people.

You can't get past the third paragraph without realizing he's full of it.

Iran has never, in its modern history, chosen the path of aggression, expansion, colonialism, or domination. Even after enduring occupation, invasion, and sustained pressure from global powers—and despite possessing military superiority over many of its neighbors—Iran has never initiated a war...The Iranian people harbor no enmity toward other nations, including the people of America, Europe, or neighboring countries...For this reason, portraying Iran as a threat is neither consistent with historical reality nor with present-day observable facts.

Yeah, just forget about those hostages, the hundreds of Americans killed by Iran's terror proxies, even the threats/plots to kill President Donald Trump. Forget about the "Death to America" chants. Forget how they're now attacking their own Gulf neighbors who did not attack them, hitting civilian infrastructure. This is just shameless.

Oh, and by the way, did Pezeshkian forget he said they were at war with us in December 2025, before Operation Epic Fury?

“In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel, and Europe," he said. "They do not want our country to stand on its feet."

The letter refers to the U.S. role in backing the Shah, but it leaves out the Iranian students' 1979 taking of American hostages. Then he whines about sanctions. Yes, that's what happens when you kidnap our people and fund terrorist proxies against us. You have 47 years of bad acts you can't argue away.

He speaks about the effect of the military action on the Iranian people. That's rich. The regime didn't care much about the people they slaughtered by thousands because they were protesting the regime. They've put down their people and treated their women like dirt for 47 years.

The Iranian people all around the world who had to flee for their own safety are begging that the regime be overthrown. Indeed, the Israelis have been able to take out some of the Basij, the paramilitary force that the regime uses to help oppress the people, with the help of tips from the people. So if Pezeshkian wants a thought that truly symbolizes the regime, that's it.

Pezeshkian tries to play right into that theory about Israel, trying to appeal to "America First," claiming Israel manufactured an Iranian threat. No, thank you, we saw you chant "Death to America" all on your own. You're responsible for the killings of more than 30 Americans in the October 7th attack, with an action by your terrorist proxy, Hamas. Plus, the bad acts I already mentioned. He's trying to manipulate the American people here and play into divisions on the question because Iran doesn't have too many options. One of the only options is propaganda to discourage further American involvement.

He asks Americans to speak to the people who have visited Iran. Well, we can listen to all the Iranians who managed to escape the tyrannical regime who would love them to be ended. But I'm guessing that he doesn't want us to talk to them.

There are a few interesting things in the letter. He doesn't deny that he asked for a ceasefire.

If I were to guess, the reason for the letter is to help protect himself from being whacked by the IRGC.

Editor's Note: For decades, former presidents have been all talk and no action. Now, Donald Trump is eliminating the threat from Iran once and for all.
