That Didn't Age Well: What Walz Said About Child Care Providers in 2024 Comes Back to Haunt Him

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is desperately trying to do damage control on the imploding fraud scandal in his state.

Over the holiday, a video from journalist Nick Shirley about "ghost" daycare centers went viral with more than 100 million views, putting even more pressure on Walz.

On top of that, FBI Director Kash Patel announced over the weekend that they were already surging assets to the state to further investigate the allegations of fraud, and he outlined some of the actions that had already been taken to go after people involved in the widespread grift.

Viral Ghost Daycare Video Forces Tim Walz to Issue Frenzied Damage Control Statement

Walz is going to have a lot of explaining to do over all this.

Now there's another video that's coming back to haunt the governor. It's from the 2024 debate that Walz had with Vice President JD Vance. This has not aged well, because Walz argued that one of the reasons people should vote for him is that Minnesota helped make it easier for child care providers to get into the business. Whoops.

“We have to make it easier for folks to be able to get into [the child care] business and then to make sure that folks are able to pay for that. We were able to do it in Minnesota,” Walz said on stage as he proposed a federal paid family medical leave program.

Yes, it's so easy in Minnesota, you might not even need to have any kids at all.

But this wasn't only something Walz was pushing in his debate remarks; here he was also posting on X about funding child care providers:

I'm thinking that claiming to be a "knucklehead" (as Tim Walz also did during the debate regarding another issue) while billions are allegedly flying out the door probably isn't a good excuse.

It's wild how this was the guy whom the Democrats put up for the vice presidential nomination. We are so fortunate he and Kamala didn't win.

Walz's people are now trying to claim that he has ''strengthened oversight" and that they are investigating.

Yeah, I don't think people are buying that. If they had really been doing their job, it wouldn't have been going on this long. They're playing, "Let's cover ourselves now."

But it isn't working very well. People want answers and action.
