Independent journalist Nick Shirley lit up the internet with his video this past week on Minnesota day care centers, where he alleged that he didn't find children, but he did find people who didn't want to talk or answer questions. The full video is now approaching 100 million views, an amazing number. He even found one "learing center" that had a misspelled name.
What that number of views shows, I think, is how disturbed Americans are by the subject and how much they want it to be addressed.
The national attention may even have forced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to act in a defensive way, because he made this post on Sunday, apparently to argue how great things were.
#8 state for safety.

#5 state to live in.
#3 state for jobs.
#2 state to raise a family, and #2 state to retire.
We’ve made progress, but there’s more to do to deliver security, opportunity, and freedom to every Minnesotan. I won't quit fighting until we're #1. pic.twitter.com/oRaKRvgN9N

He's seeing the FBI surging more assets into the state to investigate things, and even the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said his department is looking into the reports of money allegedly going out to terrorists. So Walz is trying to keep his head above water as the scandal implodes around him, but it's not working very well.

Walz has posts about providing money for child care providers in the past that have not aged well now.
We’re providing $316 million in direct funding to boost pay for child care providers all while building a stronger child care system for middle class families. Learn more here: https://t.co/FkiDN1wI3c

Walz's new post was immediately inundated with some great replies, including from Scott Presler.

Perhaps the best response came from Nick Shirley himself, who ended Walz with just one line.
Don’t forget #1 for fraud https://t.co/0rjkz6VVcT

There you go. Although, to be fair, they need a similar dive looking into California. But, for the moment, Minnesota seems to be holding the crown when we're talking about estimates in the billions. And they're still unraveling things.
Walz, who is running for reelection, is giving voters every reason not to vote for him next November, and he likely realizes how bad this looks for him. But this is the character the Democrats put out there as their candidate for vice president, which tells you how twisted they are.
