Biden Treats Reporters Like Day-Old Bread - and Did Jill Feed Him an Answer?

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre came up with a very funny gaslighting defense for Joe Biden's apparent issues in the wake of the release of the Hur Report. He does more in one hour than most people do in a day, she claimed.

Which is truly hilarious, given the frequent emptiness of his schedule, his constant vacations, and his early lids on the day.

On Wednesday, for example, according to his public schedule, Biden received the presidential daily briefing and had lunch with Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Not exactly a heavy schedule. But that's normal — Biden often only has one public item scheduled. Then you have to wonder if he's doing anything else behind the scenes.

However, despite not having much on his schedule, reporters did manage to find a couple of opportunities to fire questions at him at the White House.

Biden treated them like day-old bread. He was asked if we needed to be concerned about nuclear weapons in space and if he could say anything about the intelligence threat. He was also asked about his continuing family business scandal. Biden blew off all the questions except for one about what he's given up for Lent.

"You guys," he replied, mocking them. He doesn't think he owes them any response; they're just supposed to be representing us. And they're cool with that. One even said, "Good one." If that had been former President Donald Trump, we'd have two-day coverage of how badly he's treating the press.

Biden, of course, didn't answer anything about the intelligence threat.

The New York Post's Steven Nelson (one of the few reporters who asks real questions) tried again here.

"Do you have any comment on Russia deploying nuclear weapons into space?" Nelson inquired.

You would think such a report would earn a comment.

But Biden just replied, "Happy Valentine's Day."

Again, the difference between "adults in charge" and Joe Biden. House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the question on the national security threat as you probably should: tamping down fear and saying there was nothing to immediately worry about and that they had the issue in hand because he knew people were worried about it. Biden? Eh, pound sand.

Then Biden had a heavy task, checking out the Valentine's Day decorations on the White House lawn.

A reporter shouted a question about the shooting at the parade in Kansas City. The response was interesting. Biden didn't respond for almost twenty seconds.

That, of course, is another thing he should give an immediate response to, but he doesn't, and that's disconcerting.

But then you see him leaning in, apparently talking to Jill Biden.

It looks like she might have given him an answer, and it's only then that he responds, even as they're asking another question by that point. He says, "We're getting more information about, about the shooting. I don't have it all...I'll have it more later tonight."

If he truly needed Jill to answer something like that, we're in big trouble. And even then, he also should have included prayers for the people who were affected.
