Elon Gets the Last Laugh in His Battle With Disney

In the wake of Disney pulling its advertising from Elon Musk's X social media platform, Musk was unequivocal in how he would not be bullied in the battle to defend free speech by big companies trying to hold money over his head.

"Don't advertise," Musk said, if they want to take that tact. "If somebody is going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go f**k yourself," Elon declared.

In case they didn't catch it the first time, he said it with hand gestures and emphasis, "Go f**k yourself!"

"Is that clear?" he asked. "I hope it is. Hey, Bob," he said name-checking and waving at Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney.

That was quite the rallying cry and people on the right generally loved it. The advertiser pullout was prompted in part by a hit job by Media Matters to go after Musk and X, and in part by a comment that some like Disney preferred to take out of context. Musk blasted Disney for advertising next to "child exploitation material." He also dropped a pretty big lawsuit against Media Matters.

But Musk wasn't quite done with calling out Disney yet, blasting them for being woke and how they've changed the company.

“If we are going to fight the woke mind virus then the woke mind virus will fight back. And unfortunately, Disney is deeply infected with the woke mind virus,” he said at an event in Italy. He thought that Walt Disney would be turning over in his grave if he saw what was going on now with the company. He observed that wasn't what Walt Disney was about, he was about bringing joy to kids and families.

Musk ripped into the “woke mind virus” further.

“The woke mind virus consists of creating very, very divisive identity politics…[that] amplifies racism; amplifies, frankly, sexism; and all of the -isms while claiming to do the opposite,” Musk said at an event in Italy. “It actually divides people and makes them hate each other and hate themselves.”
A few weeks earlier, during an appearance on a podcast, Musk summed it up simply as “communism rebranded.”

But Musk seemed to get the last laugh on Disney last week. Tesla took a move that many interpreted as an action against Disney.

Last week, the Tesla news site Electrek reported that the car manufacturer informed Disney of its decision to remove the app from the main screen.

Tesla didn’t provide a reason for the decision, though an explanation is hardly needed. The move is a response to Disney CEO Bob Iger kickstarting an advertiser boycott of X.

So now it looks like this:

The folks on the left haven't learned yet that Ellon takes no guff and he's always going to stand up and fight back. He's got the moxie and the money to be able to stand up to them.

People loved it.
