We've had so many concerns about the weaponization of the government under Joe Biden against political opponents and the American people that we now have a House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government to deal with those concerns--everything from the lawfare going after former President Donald Trump to going after other Americans, including parents who might raise questions at school board meetings that some on the left don't like. We've seen Biden's FTC trying to go after Elon Musk's Twitter/X platform, now that it is not completely controlled by liberals.
Now, there's another stunning action from the Department of Justice that is raising a lot of questions about targeting, with the DOJ going after Elon Musk's SpaceX for allegedly discriminatory hiring practices. What did they do? They thought they were complying with the law by hiring U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.
“The lawsuit alleges that, from at least September 2018 to May 2022, SpaceX routinely discouraged asylees and refugees from applying and refused to hire or consider them, because of their citizenship status, in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act,” the Justice Department said in a statement.
In job postings and public statements over several years, SpaceX wrongly claimed that under federal regulations known as export control laws, SpaceX could hire only US citizens and lawful permanent residents, sometimes referred to as “green card holders,” the Justice Department said.
In other words, they allegedly didn't hire "asylees and refugees."
They brought this action because of a complaint from one man. But the DOJ not only wants to force SpaceX to hire "asylees and refugees" but they're asking for anyone to contact them if they have "any information."
Translation: We need more claims against the company.
The Justice Department is seeking "fair consideration and back pay for asylees and refugees who were deterred or denied employment at SpaceX due to the alleged discrimination." It's also pursuing civil penalties that may be determined by the court and policy changes to ensure SpaceX complies with the Immigration and Nationality Act's non-discrimination requirement in the future.
This is crazy, after everything that SpaceX has achieved.
Many weighed in expressing dismay at this action, which they saw as a targeting of Musk because he's moved against the Democratic narrative.
Joe Lonsdale, Palantir founder, said it had happened to them as well.
Others noted the stringent nature of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

According to the “Code of Federal Regulations,” Title 22 – Foreign Relations, Chapter 1 – Department of State, Subchapter M – International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Part 121 – United States Munitions List, Category IV [1] – all launch vehicle and rockets such as SpaceX’s Falcon 9, Falcon Heavy, Starship, etc. are considered as weapon technology.
The communications director for the State Freedom Caucus Network, Greg Price pointed out how NASA required one to be a U.S. citizen in order to be hired.
If you go to NASA's official website, it says "other than extremely rare exceptions, you must be a US citizen to work for NASA."

But Biden's DOJ wants to punish SpaceX for not hiring non-citizens?
I'm sure this has nothing at all to do with getting revenge on @elonmusk for… pic.twitter.com/FPwrXal9FX

Bottom line? It's a very bad move and just heightens the belief that the Biden team is going after political opponents however they can.
