The Left Screams Madly Into the Night With Their Latest Effort to Get Clarence Thomas

The Left’s latest move to get Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is way up there on the crazy meter.

Previously, students at George Washington University tried to get Thomas canned from teaching there. The University told the students to take a hike instead of folding like cheap suits.

Now there’s a new effort, and trust me, it’s even sillier.

The Hill wrote a story claiming that more than 700,000 people signed a petition calling for the impeachment of Thomas after he helped to overturn Roe v. Wade.

The petition to impeach Clarence Thomas is a MoveOn petition that now allegedly has more than 870,000 signatures.

In addition to overturning Roe, they claim he is going after other “rights” in his dissent.

They also argue that he should have recused himself from a ruling related to Jan. 6, regurgitating the false claim his wife was involved in “coup attempts.”

It has become clear that his wife—longtime conservative activist Ginni Thomas—was actively urging the White House to overturn election results both leading up to January 6 and after the deadly insurrection.

Thomas’ failure to recuse himself warrants immediate investigation and heightened alarm. And it’s only the latest in a long history of conflicts of interest in the service of a right-wing agenda and mixing his powerful role with his conservative political activism. He has shown he cannot be an impartial justice and is more concerned with covering up his wife’s coup attempts than the health of the Supreme Court.

He must resign—or Congress must immediately investigate and impeach.

Now, this is truly hilarious because they’re apparently unaware that’s not how any of this works. That creaming or signing a petition isn’t going to make him resign or get him impeached. That you don’t get impeached because you render a court decision that the left doesn’t like. That there has to be an impeachable offense — and imaginary conspiracies that you make up against his wife don’t count. They’re apparently unaware that this is just MoveOn’s effort to buff up its contact list? This petition isn’t even valuable for assessing opinion, since you can give a fake name and email and your signature still counts, making it easily hijacked.

They could scream madly into the night (and we’ve all seen them do just that) and it would have the same effect — nothing.

Oh and there’s another small problem with the story here, as a contributing columnist to the Washington Post points out.

MoveOn started collecting signatures on the petition three months ago, before the Roe v. Wade was overturned. They must have updated their “explanation” of the petition since. The Hill doesn’t make note of that. So this petition is worth exactly nothing beyond giving MoveOn some more willing dupes to solicit. But it’s still being reported as though it’s something.

This shows you not only how worthless the leftist petitions are here, but how worthless media is if they report it as some kind of significant thing without pointing out the issues.
