It’s very dangerous near Kyiv right now as the Russians close in to try to seize the city.
We saw just how dangerous over the weekend as an American journalist and videographer Brent Renaud was killed and two other journalists injured when they were reportedly fired on in their car by the Russians in Irpin, a suburb of Kyiv, according to the Kyiv chief of police.
Now Fox is reporting that one of their reporters who has been doing a lot of coverage from Ukraine, Benjamin Hall, has been injured in Kyiv on Monday and has been hospitalized.

“Earlier today, our correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured while newsgathering outside of Kyiv in Ukraine,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “We have a minimal level of details right now, but Ben is hospitalized and our teams on the ground are working to gather additional information as the situation quickly unfolds.” [….]
“The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and of the utmost importance,” Scott continued. “This is a stark reminder for all journalists who are putting their lives on the line every day to deliver the news from a war zone.” [….]
“We will update everyone as we know more,” Scott said. “Please keep Ben and his family in your prayers.”
Hall has been one of two big Fox voices on the ground in Ukraine. The other, Trey Yingst, posted a message of support for Hall. Hall is on the left, Yingst on the right.

Very few details are available at this point, but his fellow Fox reporters were asking for prayers for him.
Please pray for our Fox News colleague @BenjaminHallFNC who was injured reporting in Kyiv.
He is hospitalized and we have very few details.

Ukraine’s prosecutor general Irina Venediktova claimed on Facebook that “a reporter” had been wounded with two broken legs and was in intensive care, but Fox hasn’t confirmed that report concerning the nature of the injuries to Hall.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to questions from Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich about what happened to Renaud and what happened to Hall. Heinrich inquired about what Joe Biden had said about responding “forcefully” if Americans were targeted and asked what if anything the response would be?
Psaki on @BenjaminHallFNC being hurt in Ukraine: “Our thoughts, the President’s thoughts, our administration’s thoughts are w/him, his family, & all of you at Fox News[.]”

Psaki claimed that Joe Biden has “led the world in putting in place consequences” for Russia but they had nothing to preview about any kind of response at this point. That, of course, isn’t true. He didn’t put any consequences in place until after the invasion and even then had to be dragged into ratcheting them up. He still has meetings going on with Russia over the Iran deal and climate change. So while they like to say that, it just isn’t true.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said they would impose “appropriate consequences” over the killing of American Brent Renaud. But with the Biden Administration, it’s not clear if “appropriate consequences” or “severe price” mean much of anything.
