Even 'God' Objects to Defunding the Police

Since last year, we’ve seen a radical movement including the BLM push to “defund the police” across the country, accompanied by hundreds of riots and direct attacks on the police.

It hasn’t worked well in places where they have tried it, with a consequent rise in crime.

But as we noted, most Americans have widely rejected the effort.

Seventy-five percent of respondents said more police are needed on the street while only 25 percent say they do not need more cops on the beat.

Seventy-two percent of voters also said they oppose “defunding the police,” and a slim 52 percent majority said they support the controversial practice of stop and frisk in urban areas to “deter gun crime.” Fifty-six percent also say they oppose eliminating cash bail.

It’s also been bad for the image of Democrats, because they’ve become associated -, correctly ,- with the concept. It’s not a sale to the normal average American, who isn’t a radical Marxist and who views the police as important. Some Democrats have now been trying to pretend they weren’t for it all, but they got nailed pretty well in a new video.

But when even ‘God’ comes out against it, you know that it’s not a concept that’s going to go over well.

Morgan Freeman has played God in the movies “Bruce Almighty” and “Evan Almighty.”

But he’s not a fan of defunding the police at all, saying law enforcement is “very necessary,” during an interview he gave for his new movie, “The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain.”

From Washington Examiner:

“I’m not in the least bit for defunding the police,” Freeman said. “Police work is, aside from all the negativity around it, it is very necessary for us to have them and most of them are guys that are doing their job. They’re going about their day-to-day jobs. There are some police who would never pulled their guns except in a range, that sort of thing. I don’t know.”

Fox News contributor Leo Terrell applauded Freeman for daring to be so upfront about making that point in the environment of leftist Hollywood.

Democratic cities, people of color, of all color, they want the police. Morgan Freeman is in that Hollywood elite, so he’s going to get some blowback. I applaud him for speaking out because it shatters this ridiculous concept that we think alike; we all hate the police. We don’t hate the police. We love the police because 98% of them, maybe 99%, they protect us. Twenty-four seven, when we’re asleep at night, they’re out there protecting us.

This would seem a simple point, but it’s a point that so many on the left seem to have lost over this past year. Good for Freeman for daring to put sense on this subject back in play. He’s likely at a point where even a big push by leftists to hurt him wouldn’t have much effect but still good for standing for truth.
