I reported earlier about the Taliban holding up the departure of several planes out of Mazar-i-sharif, Afghanistan, that include at least 142 Americans and hundreds of SIVs.
But one of the most infuriating things about the story is that the NGOs involved trying to help get Americans out said the State Department was responsible for holding up the planes, creating the situation that has now led to standoff with the Taliban. Because the State Department didn’t act, they basically handed control to the Taliban, who are now preventing the planes from leaving, apparently hoping to get something from the U.S. before they let the planes go, according to Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX).
The State Department said because they don’t have people on the ground, they didn’t have the “reliable means” to determine the facts.
“Given these constraints, we also do not have a reliable means to confirm the basic details of charter flights, including who may be organizing them, the number of U.S. citizens and other priority groups on-board, the accuracy of the rest of the manifest, and where they plan to land, among many other issues,” the spokesperson told The Hill.
“We understand the concern that many people are feeling as they try to facilitate further charter and other passage out of Afghanistan,” the spokesperson added.
That’s pretty bad. How much does it take to answer the phone call of the people who are calling you, desperate to get Americans out? According to them, you didn’t even initially take their calls. Now you want to act like you didn’t know or couldn’t confirm things? Maybe the priority should be not throwing roadblocks, but actually rescuing Americans? The idiocy of the Biden team knows no end.
It was so bad, anti-Trump Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) even took a whack at his Biden buddies.
You’re the damn State Dept, get some “reliable means.” You have one job. Good Lord
State Department says it has no 'reliable means' to confirm if Taliban preventing Americans from leaving Afghanistan https://t.co/7H90gQJ9ug

But Kinzinger was called on it.
Adam seems to have some issues with his new buddies. https://t.co/vuLf97cA4m

Exactly right. Adam’s New Democratic buddies have left who knows how many Americans stranded in Afghanistan and at least 142 of them are now being kept from leaving by the Taliban.
But that response made Adam flip out because the Never Trump folks like Adam don’t want to accept the responsibility that their actions have contributed and empowered the disaster that is Joe Biden. Apparently, that truth was a little too much for the prickly Kinzinger.
Both them, and you, picked a tribe. You don’t care about pesky things like “truth” and “consistency.” All that matters is your tribe. I refuse to join one, and tribalism must die. https://t.co/Ea1dPfM1O4

When you claim to be a Republican but aren’t doing everything you can to fight the Democratic effort to fundamentally transform America, you have picked a tribe — the wrong tribe, the tribe that is anti-truth and anti the best interests of the United States. When you are empowering them, as Kinzinger has chosen, he either doesn’t understand or just isn’t honest enough to admit it. He honestly thinks he’s going to end tribalism — by aligning with the people who have imposed identity politics on America? That’s a pretty delusional take. Not to mention an overinflated sense of his own importance.
What he may not understand yet is that he doesn’t make himself more popular or more embraced by them by throwing the GOP under the bus, they’ll just use him and throw him under the bus, too. Because they play for keeps and complete control.

Leave @awstar11 the hell alone. He's one of the most consistent and genuine guys on here.
You really have become CNN and MSNBC — lecture ad nauseum about civility and principles while doing the opposite. https://t.co/2oxGGyHmJo

2. Here’s where he goes very wrong. He ignorantly makes assumptions about me based on my criticisms. Without checking my TL, he just assumes he knows who I am, what I support, and what I believe in.
This is exactly what’s wrong with our national discourse and he’s all in on it.

But Kinzinger is going to end tribalism — by ascribing a “tribe” to anyone who challenges him.
