Megan Rapinoe's Former Teammate Is Throwing Her Under the Bus Over Kneeling

U.S. women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe has antagonized many Americans with her kneeling during the anthem and pushing “wokeness” rather than concentrating on winning at soccer.

But now that Rapinoe is done with her career, we’ve been seeing people come forward and oppose the kneeling stance.

As we saw during the Olympics, another star player, Carli Lloyd, defied the wokeness and stood while the other players knelt before their last game. They all stood for the anthem but were all kneeling before the game, until Lloyd broke that up and stood on her own.

Now, former national team star Hope Solo is explaining that Rapinoe would “almost bully” players to get them to kneel. Solo, who is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, played on the national team from 2000-2016.

From Fox News:

“I’ve seen Megan Rapinoe almost bully players into kneeling because she really wants to stand up for something in her particular way, but it’s our right as Americans to do it in whatever way we’re comfortable with,” Solo said on “All of US: The U.S. Women’s Soccer Show” last Tuesday.

The former goalie described kneeling as “very divisive.”

Having seen how Rapinoe has behaved, it’s not hard to imagine that she might harangue other players. It tells you something about Rapinoe that people can easily believe that she did it. Isn’t that typical of those on the left — those like Rapinoe who decry fascistic behavior — using her own clout on the team to try to bully others? Now that she’s done with her career, I fully expect more stories like this to emerge about Rapinoe when people no longer have to hold back because she’s no longer on the team. Her “woke” attitude is one of the reasons that Subway franchise owners don’t want her as a spokesperson for the branch because customers are complaining to them.

Some have questioned Solo’s story because she herself has a checkered past with accusations of abuse and being suspended from the team. There’s also a question as Rapinoe didn’t start kneeling until just after Solo was kicked off the team. But that doesn’t necessarily negate that she may have seen her pressure people to kneel before that or that she could have been told about it by her former teammates.

Again, the problem as we saw in the Olympics: far too much focus on politics and kneeling, not enough focus on their actual job of winning games. That’s why they were left with the bronze medal rather than the gold. That’s why they need to change things going forward. With Rapinoe no longer there, maybe they will be able to.
