White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was missing from the White House briefing today, so Karine Jean-Pierre, the deputy press secretary, had to fill in for her.

But Jean-Pierre didn’t do any better at answering questions than Psaki does. She showed that she can spin and avoid questions just like Psaki.

Peter Doocy didn’t take the day off and he was all business with a very pointed question for Jean-Pierre about the new mask guidance that the White House was enforcing. All the reporters in the room were made to wear masks to get in, but Jean-Pierre wasn’t wearing one during the briefing.

Great question. But following after Psaki, Jean-Pierre never really answered it.

Jean-Pierre said the majority of people apprehended at the border were expelled in accordance with Title 42.

Really? Let’s check what they are doing now according to Fox’s Bill Melugin. They’re opening the gates and just letting people in, even busing them to processing centers before letting them go.

So how are they “expelled?” Wouldn’t expelling mean not opening the gate and letting them in?

For the others, she mentions “alternatives to detention programs.” Is that spin for “released?”

Saying that they are giving them PPE when they are being released isn’t answering the question: Are you releasing positive people into the country?

World-class spinning. Yet, Jean-Pierre never actually answered that question because, of course, the answer is yes. So she wanted to throw in a lot of words to cover.

Doocy wasn’t just throwing that out there, but likely referencing it because of a Fox report confirming that illegal aliens who had the virus were being released into the country.

The La Joya, Texas, Police Department issued a public health announcement on Facebook this week and explained that concerned citizens had witnessed a family group coughing and sneezing at a local Whataburger. Police said they were told by the group they had been released by Border Patrol into a local hotel.

“The Officer approached the family and was told by them that they had been apprehended by Border Patrol days prior and were released because they were sick with COVID-19,” the Facebook post read, adding that they determined the family was being housed at a local hotel by a charity group.

“Officers made contact with Hotel management who explained that Catholic Charities of The Rio Grande Valley had booked all the rooms in the hotel to house undocumented immigrants that were detained By Border Patrol,” the post stated.

The post says the majority of the migrants held were not wearing masks and that border authorities are releasing migrants with coronavirus symptoms to local charities who were not notifying local police that sick people were being housed in the hotels.

But meanwhile, vaccinated reporters in the White House have to wear masks. Federal employees are going to be made to wear masks. Kids who rarely get it and even more rarely have it seriously will all have to wear masks if schools open back up in the fall. How is any of this logical or sane?
